I wonder how the Cambridge Folk Fest (UK) will deal with all the Indigo Girls fans! :) Ellen, looking forward to Cambridge's line-up -- not just IG, but they are a selling point. :) ===== "Literature stops in 1100. It will be held May 16-25 at the Exit Theater, and features "plays, solos, cabarets and comedy with a 'female persuasion.'" Among the featured performers is Amy X Neuburg, who is always worth seeing! She will be doing a revue called "Life & Death & Love & Insects." http://www.sffringe.org/now.html#anchor55941 Also local to SF: after seeing numerous ads & billboards promoting a new radio station called "The Wave," I turned it on in the car one Sunday night. They were playing music from Senegal, and some really fantastic reggae, and lots of other exotic, world beat-y stuff. There were two knowledgeable DJs talking to each other about the music. "Wow," I thought, "maybe commercial radio doesn't suck after all! This is incredibly cool! I'll have to start listening to this station all the time!" The following afternoon, I turned it on again and heard Santana. Well, I figured, I guess he qualifies as world beat, sort of. That was followed by Macy Gray, Steely Dan and the Dave Matthews Band. I was crushed. Obviously the cool music show is relegated to the relatively obscure realm of Sunday night. Uh, guys, we already have this radio station called KFOG... I know, I should've known better :) I guess I can tune in on Sundays though. - --Sue Trowbridge ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V8 #116 **************************
