Montana singer-songwriter Amy Martin is about to embark on a Colorado tour. Amy doesnt tour more than a few months of the year, so if you are in the area, you should try to catch her. Amy has performed with or opened for Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer, Lucy Kaplansky, Edie Carey, Jenn Adams, Mason Tuttle and once shared the stage with Pete Seeger at the SOA Protest in GA. Amy is supporting her third CD, This Fall, which is a benefit for various projects that support Afghan refugees. Its a gorgeous CD, her best yet, I think. For more info see http://www.amy-martin.com or http://www.musi-cal.com Quotes from the Press "With her first CD, the rich and beautiful To You, Martin proved herself to be the West's answer to East Coast pop-folkie Dar Williams. She sings intelligent story songs, some personal, some political." - -- Spokesman Review (Spokane, Washington) "To You exhibits a pervasive and intuitive intelligence. Everything works together to make this one of the best albums I've heard all year I was blown away by the lyrics Her style is as bluesy and bold as it is melodic and ear-pleasing, and her vocals are as pure and steady as a young Joni Mitchell Martin's songs reveal more with each listen." - -- Pacific Northwest Inlander (Spokane, Washington) "With a voice as gentle and searing as Lucinda Williams and lyrics as detailed as Dar Williams, Amy Martin glides though her second album, Unbroken, with grace and diversity . With all the music inside Amy Martin, how can she keep from singing?" -- Missoulian Entertainer (Missoula, Montana) Colorado April/May 2002 tour dates: Thu April 25, 7:30pm Jamestown Mercantile, 108 Main St, Jamestown, CO 303-442-5847 free/tips Fri April 26, 8pm Acoustic Cafe, Nederland, CO 303-258-3209 http://www.acousticCafe.net/ (Doors open at 7pm) Tickets $5 Sat April 27, 4pm Java Mountain Roasters, 1506 Miner Street Idaho Springs, $4 cover 1-800-568-5670 Sun April 28, 7:30pm Linden House Concerts Greeley, CO, contact goldiej@juno.com or 970-352-2857 $10 Thu May 2nd 8pm Acoustic Coffee Lounge, 5152 Centennial Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 719-268-9951 http://www.acousticcoffee.com/ Fri May 3rd, 7-9pm Java Juntion, 2401 North Ave #12, Grand Junction, CO 970-241-5150 $5 cover http://www.fruitachamber.org/java_junction.htm Sat May 4th, 9pm Pizza My Heart, 202 Grand Paonia, CO 970-527-3265 Sunday May 5th at 6:30 p.m. Durango, CO Amy will be giving her first concert in Durango as a benefit for the Women's Resource Center. Hi, The semi-final Falcon Ridge Folk Festival lineup has been unveiled, at http://www.falconridgefolk.com. Get ready ... Ani's back!!! Yes, Ani DiFranco is on the schedule for Sunday. This distresses me. After the last time Ani was there, I'd heard that the folks who run Falcon Ridge vowed "never again". 20,000 screaming Ani fans is *not* what the festival was designed to handle. (Attendance is generally in the 12,000 range.) As cool as it was to see Ani play, my enjoyment of the weekend was greatly diminished by the hordes of people milling around who clearly had no interest in anything besides Ani's set, and obviously had no clue what Falcon Ridge is all about. Plus, the lines at the food vendors, the portalets, and showers were ridiculous, and there was nary a camping spot to be had by Friday afternoon. Falcon Ridge has become a treasured summertime tradition, but I have to think about whether I want to put myself through that again. Fortunately, the rest of the lineup has enough high points (Trina Hamlin! Kris Delmhorst! Erin McKeown! Nerissa & Katryna Nields!) that I can probably grin and bear it. I'll just have to make sure we bring a *lot* more beer with us this time around. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html =====Next Up: Molly Zenobia 5/5/02===== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Apr 2002 22:06:40 -0400 From: "Sherlyn Koo" Subject: New email address Hey folks, Just to let you know I've got a new email address - sherlyn@pixelopolis.com. - -sherlyn - -- Sherlyn Koo | sherlyn@pixelopolis.com | Sydney, Australia [ Please note new email address! ] - -- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Apr 2002 23:00:42 -0400 From: Jeff Wasilko Subject: calling toronto ectophiles I'm going to be in toronto June 7-12 for a conference (NANOG), and Beth Orton is playing a show in Toronto on June 7. I'm planning on going to the show, so if any local ectophiles are planning to as well it'd be great to meet up. I'm also looking for some suggestions on things to do in the area...Any other good shows during the time I'll be there? Reminded me of Suvome at times, with occasional traces of late Love Spirals Downwards... There are 6 full tracks to listen to on their website. Unfortunately the only buying info points to online bookshop called proxis.com, unknown to me, but appearing to be aimed at European market. I hate ordering from people I haven't dealt with before, which is a bit of Catch-22 situation :) If anyone knows anything about proxis.com, or knows alternative source of Lunascape CDs, I'd love to hear your comments. I would like to get this record... - ---------------------------------------------------------------- "I'm out of bed and I'm dressed, what more do you want?" - spotted on a T-shirt - ---------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V8 #115 **************************
