It's programmed to record on my Tivo, which makes it easy enough to burn copies for any who wish them, virtually first generation as the Tivo records far sharper than VHS. Barring a power failure, it's all set to go! I am not 100% sure that I will make it on Saturday but if I am there I will try to record the show so it can be passed along. gSs On Wed, 13 Mar 2002, meredith wrote: > Christine Fellows will be showcasing at BD Riley's at 8 pm this Saturday, > March 16. Burka" Subject: Re: maple music question can't remember whether or not meth responded to her own question about Maple Music delivery times, but I thought I'd throw in that my order arrived yesterday (ordered on, oh, probably 3/2 or so). Started listening to Christine Fellows' new album on the way to work. Of course, several songs I knew from mp3 downloads from her site. The main thing that strikes me so far is the difference in the percussion on the album -- there's a lot more of it, particularly drum-kit type stuff. This is not a bad thing, just a different thing. Hurray for meth; it's always fun to see an ectophile's name in the liner notes for an album. Also in the package was the _Apartment Hunting_ soundtrack with mmoh. Groovy stuff. Very jazzy. A fair amount of the trademark mmoh gibberish, but lots of sultry, smokey vox too. a very, very cool album. Finally, thanks to whoever it was recently who recommended Mirah. (aka Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn). Sort of low-fi acoustic folk/punk, occasionally verging into jazz territory (e.g. "Words Cannot Describe" from the debut _You Think It's Like This But Really It's Like This_), with child-freaked vocals that call to mind, say, Alison Shaw of Cranes. I was so taken with the four tracks I'd downloaded from krecs.com/mirah that I sprang for both of her albums plus the single for "Cold Cold Water." As Neile has already said, this song is outstanding. The album cut is a bombastic, overproduced masterpiece that verges on progrock but without the synthesizers and electric guitars. Instead, it fuses acoustic guitar with strings and massive percussion (tympani! when was the last time you heard tympani with an acoustic guitar?). K Records seems to be having some trouble with credit card processing right now, so I placed my order over the website and then mailed a check. That was probably about March 3rd and my CDs arrived yesterday. jeff n.p. _Apartment Hunting_, mary margaret o'hara ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Mar 2002 19:32:55 +0100 From: Leon van Stuivenberg Subject: Re: NEED HELP WITH Loreena CONCERT Robert Lovejoy wrote: >Concert or Documentary, anyone wishing a copy should be getting ready to >send me a tape and return postage/packaging.
