I wouldn't have known that she was taking a break from performing because I'm a longtime fan new to the ecto list and not privy to archives. 2. I think it's unfortunate that you think any outcome of a discussion on grassroots PR (which doesn't just mean performance - it means playlists and Web site promotion and writing articles and general awareness raising) would ultimately be nothing more than "ill-fated talk". 3. I'm disappointed that there's no-one here, not a SINGLE PERSON who has anything positive to say, or helpful information on past and current efforts. Disappointed and *surprised*. I'm not looking to stir up trouble. I was hoping to find out about and get plugged into the exact opposite - - something wonderful and productive. I'll assume nothing like that is happening at the grassroots level and that no-one here is interested in participating in a grassroots campaign given the nature (and general lack) of responses... Which is fine, I'm not grinching, I'm perfectly comfy doing what I can as an individual. But if you WOULD like to get involved email me directly at konzamoon@yahoo.com and I'll keep you posted... You might check the Ecto archives for some of what has been done. You can find them by searching entries in groups.google.com for the newsgroup fa.music.ecto, to which this list is gatewayed. Before you assume that nothing has happened, you might look up EctoFest. Beware of reinventing wheels while riding a high horse. > I'm not looking to stir up trouble. Talking about what might be done is one thing, but when one person actually *does* something, others tend to join and build momentum. Start an action, and then see what the response is. - -- | jzitt@metatronpress.com http://www.metatronpress.com/jzitt | | New book: Surprise Me with Beauty: the Music of Human Systems | | http://www.metatronpress.com/nj/smwb.html | | Latest CDs: Collaborations/ All Souls http://www.mp3.com/josephzitt | | Comma: Voices of New Music Silence: the John Cage Discussion List | ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V8 #60 *************************
