Trouble is, I am missing two tracks from two original CDs, one of which I have given away (to the ex), and the other sold or traded (to an ectophile, I forget who). I wonder if any of you out there might be kind enough to send to me either or both of these tracks; they are: 1. Beth Hart's "L.A. Song", from _Screaming for my supper_ 2. Rebecca Timmons's "Which Side Am I On?", from the eponymous CD If you have these songs, I would really appreciate getting a copy, in the following order of preference of media: 1) An audio CD-R or CD-RW with the tracks digitally dubbed directly from the original source (without conversion); or... 2) A computer file (via e-mail, or ftp, or whatever) in "CD" format, so I can copy the track directly to CD; or... 3) A computer file (via e-mail, or ftp, or whatever) in any other format, such as MP3, so I can convert the file to CD format and then burn the track on CD. If you opt to e-mail the file, please give me a heads up, so my mail server doesn't choke on a very large attachment. If you do send a CD, I am willing to pay for your blank media and your shipping costs. Speaking of which, I have once purchased both discs new, so I don't feel guilty about asking for a copy of one track from one disc each. This scares me to no end: >but just today recieved the trailer for the movie I am doing the whole soundtrack for, an illustrated version of HG Lovecraft's The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath < Ack!!!! Who is doing this film? Is it an animation? ('illustrated' is a bit confusing). I adore this book--its my all time favorite Lovecraft story. PLEASE tell us more. Thanks. Megan p.s.--I've been listening to the clips from 'Ordinary Magic' at CD Baby. Sounds great. I should be able to order it by next week. >From: cyo@landoftheblind.com >To: ecto@smoe.org >Subject: Re: Cyo lurking, Joe meeting, Bill thanking... >Date: Wed, 06 Feb 2002 22:44:09 - -0800 > >dear Bill and Joseph, (and all Ectos out there) > >thanks so much for coming out to hear me perform with the "new" Blind in >Berkeley on Friday night. I'd pre-ordered it from Amazon, so it arrived promptly, and I finally got a chance to give it a listen. (Of course, we know Anthony Stewart Head as Giles the Watcher, right?) It's actually better than I thought it would be. George Sarah is an in-demand electronic composer, and he adds some really nice textures to the songs, most of which were penned by Head (with the notable exception of track 11, words and music by Joss Whedon). There are some notable guest stars: Amber Benson (Tara) provides (barely audible :/) backing vox on two tracks, and James Marsters (Spike) and Alyson Hannigan (Willow) make brief appearances. Marsters sings backing vox on one track and provides an interesting spoken coda at the very end, and Hannigan does a don't-blink-or-you'll-miss-it vocal thing (not sung, thank god :). As for Head himself, we know from the musical episode that he's a pretty good singer, but he sounds much better with this material than in the musical, imo. The lyrics aren't anything to write home about, but for the most part the music makes it easy to get past that. I think Joss Whedon's song is actually the best of the lot. I'd recommend this for the die-hard completist, or the fool who loves to collect CDs by cult television actors, like me. :) (I'd compare this to Mira Furlan's (Delenn from _Babylon 5_) lovely CD, _Music From Movies That Haven't Been Made_, more than Claudia Christian's (Ivanova from B5) shockingly awful Madonna-wannabe EP.) ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ======================================= (: New England Patriots - Super Bowl XXXVI CHAMPIONS :) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 07 Feb 2002 22:43:17 -0500 From: meredith Subject: Re: One for the BUFFY Fans Hi again, Following up on my own posting ... points off for bad form. I forgot to mention that there is also a cameo by Holly Palmer on _Music For Elevators_: she sings a duet with A.S. Head on a rather lugubrious cover of The Beatles' "We Can Work It Out". While poking around online for updated info on Ms. Palmer, I struck out ... none of the web sites I could find, official or otherwise, have been updated in over a year. Is she still around? I saw the Laurie Anderson solo show in Ann Arbor on Saturday. It was brilliant. She refigured the show for the tour around the sense of post 9-11 brooding. It exactly about 9-11, but the event has imbued her with a sort of gravity she has never had before. Ms. Anderson has always seemed just a little bit precious, a bit too clever, her intertextuality too studied. 'Happiness' (As it is titled) constantly recalls and confirms Anderson's themes, but on its own, without having to quote herself constantly. Her musing was not only incisive but immediate in a way I've never heard before. Ok. That's all idiot music critic talk, but just try to see the show if you get a chance James Mitchell jmitchel@jmitchel.com - --- Neal Copperman wrote: > But I also checked her web site, and it's full of tour dates.
