The flyer claims it is "an outstanding album featuring Billy Braff, Eric Bibb, Bert Jansch, and many more." It's an evening of classic folk, roots, and acoustic music featuring Roger Askew, Ayo, Brother Falloon, Sam Genders (saw him open for Bill Jones -- I liked him), Maureen Munroe, etc. I haven't had a chance to speak with Maureen (she teaches music at my school -- has a CD out), but I will try to soon to get more details. It's at the Twelve Bar Club in London -- goes from 8 PM to 1 AM. Ellen ===== "Literature stops in 1100. After that, it's just books." - -- JRR Tolkien Great stuff seeking new owners in Yahoo! It's actually > kind of cool--it has been ages since I've been interested in much on MTV. Vanessa is going to be huge... her single ("1000 Miles") hasn't even hit radio yet and it's already getting a lot of plays on MTV and MTV2. Her debut will be out in March. She is 21 years old, originally from PA but moved to NYC to study ballet professionally at like 15 or something... she's been in the NYC scene for a few years. I have some boots of her stuff and I happen to really like it. Sometimes her voice is a little irritating, but these are old performances and I think she has improved a lot. Her piano playing is excellent...very complex and interesting. The single is definitely not her best song, either. If anyone has Audiogalaxy you can download a show she did that aired on the Metro Channel in NYC... it was part of the BMI Showcase. The songs are: [BMI1]= 1000 Miles (the single) [BMI2]= More than Wanted (Great piano stuff) [BMI3]=Swindler (my favorite but unfortunately isn't going to be on her album :( ) [BMI4]=Ordinary Day [BMI5]=Red Ditty (Very short) [BMI6]=Twilight (very pretty, will be the other song on her single that is coming out in mid-Feb, you can pre-order through cdnow.com) I am excited for her... a lot of people are comparing her to Michelle Branch but she has TONS more talent... hopefully her record won't be as overproduced as MB's, either... we'll see. She's on A&M and is top priority for them right now.
