This sounds very much like Meret Becker. I found it intriguing for a number of reasons. 1. It's a reminder that we are gatewayed and that posts to ecto really are public. 2. Not everything you see on the web, even on "official" pages, is necessarily true. BTW, I did ask for permission to repost this before passing it on. neal np: tape of KUNM kids show http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%22pepper%22group:fa.music.ecto+group:fa.mus ic.ecto&hl=en&selm=fa.dlr31gv.h1g9pa%40ifi.uio.no&rnum=8 "Pepper's page has a lot of added amusement. If you read it, you will learn that she is a genius in film and literature as well, having an unpublished great novel - the Gen X Catcher in the Rye (hey, that's what it says). I actually like her album, but the web site is so over the top that I don't think I'd have considered it if that was my introduction. neal " HI. I'm going through old newgroups and things, trying to update my press pack, and I found this thread. I just wanted to clarify something that i found horrifying.... This site was done before I had a computer. I paid someone, who was a bit too devout of a fan of my stuff. It's really a long creepy story but the summary is that I didn't even SEE my own website (the former incarnation that you are referring to here) until about 3 months after it was up, because at that time i had no computer. And I was really horrified because the 'screenplay' referred to up there is this thing i wrote in 11th grade full of cure songs and bad poetry. The person who built that website is a cleveland film maker and he wanted to make that, especially after my second album came out. novel...he read a manuscript of a book i did when living in nyc in 96 and i had NO idea that he wanted to "publish" that until i read it on the website, my first peek at it was in a store that sold records and weird stuff like velvet flare pants. there was actually legal action involved before he took it down. i mean, i read it thinking "God if this was about anyone else, i'd think what a self absorbed Enya wannabe gothy hubric asshole this person is" I do have a little vaguely humorous thing on my real page now where i go off on the tori thing in my FAQ but what he had up there was grossly blown out of proportion. I just wanted to add my two cents here so you wouldn't think that that..thing was really me. pepper mcgowan ww.peppermcgowan.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jan 2002 01:47:03 EST From: RocketsTail@aol.com Subject: Re: Pepper (Acton) McGowan Pepper's a great person...glad that was cleared up :-) ~eric "why do I like you?
