Hi, I just saw in the local paper that tickets go on sale next week for Laurie Anderson's show "Happiness" at the Shubert Theater in New Haven on April 26. Yeep!!! Laurie Anderson in my town!!! This is *so* cool... :) I thought the CT-area ectophiles would want to know this, so there ya go. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jan 2002 22:57:35 -0500 From: "valrichardson@igc.org" Subject: [Fwd: Laurie Anderson in CT?!?] I'm so excited! I just heard an interview with her on WNYC in New York City. She was profoundly moving and very spiritual talking about her reaction to September 11. She said that she's been doing a lot of her older material on the current tour, and it has been interesting for her to see the audience reaction to it in these different times we're in. It's interesting that her tour is called "Happiness." - --Valerie Richardson ******************************** meredith wrote: > > Hi, > > I just saw in the local paper that tickets go on sale next week for Laurie > Anderson's show "Happiness" at the Shubert Theater in New Haven on April 26. > > Yeep!!! > > Laurie Anderson in my town!!! About five minutes in I was saying to myself, "I know why Veda Hille loves this movie so much." :) I'm sure we were the last two people on the planet to find out that Dar Williams is on the soundtrack (albeit briefly). That woke me up! (I found the "Menses Fair" scene in which Dar's music appeared particularly hilarious. :) Bizarre movie, but highly entertaining. Great music, too. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't gotten around to seeing it yet. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jan 2002 23:31:55 -0500 From: meredith Subject: Re: [Fwd: Laurie Anderson in CT?!?] Hi, Valerie responded: >I'm so excited! It was our first trip into the City since September 10. She didn't specifically address the events of the week before, but the effect her music had on the audience was evident. So much of her latest album is about New York ... but the older stuff was incredible too. (I never thought I'd get to hear anything from _Big Science_ performed live.) In view of what was going on, the part of "O Superman" where she says Cause when love is gone, there's always justice. And when justice is gone, there's always force. And when force is gone, there's always Mom. Hi Mom! really affected me. I just remembered I have a commitment out of state the day she's coming to New Haven, but I'm going to bag it. There are no New York or Boston dates on her tour calendar, so this is my one and only chance. And long ago I made a promise to myself never to miss a Laurie Anderson show, ergo... :) ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jan 2002 05:16:00 -0800 From: Brian Bloom Subject: Re: Portland-area Ectos?
