The 12-track "Become You" was produced by Peter Collins, who previously teamed with the group for 1992's "Rite of Passage" and 1994's "Swamp Ophelia." It's the follow-up to 1999's "Come On Now Social," which debuted at No. 34 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 250,000 copies in the U.S. to date, according to SoundScan. Ray and Saliers will hit the road alone for a tour largely comprising small clubs, beginning Feb. 11 in Boulder, Colo., with dates currently booked through March 5 in Toronto. Additional shows are expected to be added. "Become You" features six songs each from principal singer/songwriters Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, and find the pair backed by its touring group: Carol Isaacs (keyboards/percussion), Clare Kenny (bass), and Brady Blade (drums). The album's first single will be the Ray-penned "Moment of Forgiveness." Last spring, Ray released her first solo album, "Stag," on her own Daemon Records. Noting that album's more rock-oriented material, she said at the time that "I think [the next Indigo Girls album is] going to be a more acoustic, back-to-basics album for us. I'm excited about that. I'm ready for us to make a simple, beautiful record." Here are the Indigo Girls' acoustic tourdates: Feb. 11: Boulder, Colo. (Fox Theatre) Feb. 13: Seattle (Crocodile Cafe) Feb. 14: Portland, Ore. (Aladdin) Feb. 15: San Francisco (Slim's Club) Feb. 18: Los Angeles (Knitting Factory) Feb. 21: Austin, Texas (Mercury) Feb. 22: Dallas (Sons of Hermann Hall) Feb. 24: Nashville (3rd & Lindsley) Feb. 25: Atlanta (venue TBA) Feb. 26: New York (Bowery Ballroom) Feb. 27: Philadelphia (TLA) Feb. 28: Madison, N.J. (Drew University) March 1: Boston (Paradise) March 3: Buffalo, N.Y. (University of Buffalo) March 4: Ottawa, Ontario (Gay Pride Festival) March 5: Toronto (Lee's Palace) - -- Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. www.jessicaweiser.com | www.aftersilence.net ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Jan 2002 00:55:54 From: "Lyle Howard" Subject: Miranda Richards Evening, If you want to read an interview with Miranda Richards, go to dallasobserver.com and punch her name into the search box. There is also a review of her album there. The fact that she is a daughter of a cartoonist rang a bell and I remembered the article. While you're there you might as well type in Sarah Jones and read about her. I expect you will find interviews or reviews of many of your favorite artistes. I would bore you with a long list of Denton bands to look up, but that would be boring. Somewhere in my parents' house, I think I prolly still have a drawerful of tapes circa late 80s, all full of songs taped off that station ... back when Ann Archy spun tunes at Images... ACK! But here in New Haven, all I get around that area of the dial is the classical station WMNR ... ==Cynthia== - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Tuesday, January 15, 2002 3:55 AM Subject: Pleasure Kittens - All Women Radio Show in CT > Hey everyone, > I've noticed a fairly large amount of the people on the list live in CT, or seem to. I just thought all of you in the Danbury area should know about this magnificent radio show known as Pleasure Kittens. They play everything from Ani DiFranco, Tori Amos, Kristin Hersch, to Bjork, Portishead, Cowboy Junkies, Halou, to Aretha Franklin, Pat Benetar, Blondie, to My Ruin, Kidneythieves, Genitorturers and Tapping the Vein. Holly McNarland, Sarah Slean, The Cranes, Rasputina, Sneaker Pimps, Lennon, PJ Harvey, and tons of others make it onto the playlists as well. The djs, Vixen and Lula, are excellent with sexy voices and remarkable wit. :) Actually, they spend a lot of time fooling around... > They also share news on concert info and anything else that may concern women in music. > You can listen in, Wednesday nights, 9-midnight, on WXCI 91.7 FM.
