This CD seems to be out of print. If any of you music search luminaries may be able to find it readily available for sale, or happen to have it and won't mind selling it, please let me know. Many thanks in advance. - - Bill G. np: Ebba Forsberg - True Love (sweet little delicious album by swede Ebba, a nice balance between blues and ecto fare) nr: don Miguel Luiz - The Four Agreements ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 4 Jul 2001 15:26:44 EDT From: FAMarcus@aol.com Subject: SEARCH ENGINES can someone post the best search engine for music. one that would hook up a song with the various artist's that did it. is there something like that out there? thanks..........fam ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 4 Jul 2001 14:11:37 -0500 From: Joseph Zitt Subject: Re: SEARCH ENGINES On Wed, Jul 04, 2001 at 03:26:44PM -0400, FAMarcus@aol.com wrote: > can someone post the best search engine for music. one that would hook up a > song with the various artist's that did it. is there something like that out > there? I usually use AltaVista for this (at http://www.av.com/ ). If you have a song title or some lyrics, enter it there, within quotes, and it's pretty good at finding the song, especially if someone has posted the lyrics. I use google for most searches, but I find Altavista excels at string searches (as distinguished from searches for unordered groups of words). - -- |> ~The only thing that is not art is inattention~ --- Marcel Duchamp <| | jzitt@metatronpress.com http://www.metatronpress.com/jzitt | | Latest CD: Jerusaklyn http://www.mp3.com/josephzitt | | Comma: Voices of New Music Silence: the John Cage Discussion List | ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 4 Jul 2001 20:36:42 -0500 (CDT) From: "Mitchell A. Pravatiner" Subject: Some kind of anniversary I would have posted this yesterday, but I was tied up with life offline all day and evening. It was the day before the 4th, in the first year I was part of the ecto world. That makes it July 3, 1991, that the batch of cassettes I bought at a storewide sale at the old Rose Records branch store on North Avenue included _Warpaint_. It was my first exposure to Happy's music, and the rest is history. The event takes place September 14-15 in New Haven, CT. This year the lineup includes: Friday Night Song Circle Lui Collins The Kennedys Jess Klein Saturday Night Main Stage Dave van Ronk Toshi Reagon Nanci Griffith There will be lots more too, mostly local acts rounding out both bills. Tickets went on sale online today. We have a very limited number of very discounted "early bird" tickets available, first-come, first-served. Info is at http://www.ctfolk.com/ewff/index.html. (The full Festival web site will go live in a couple days, with much more info -- but for now the important ticket stuff is there, at least. :) Please feel free to pass this info along to any other lists that might be interested. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Jul 2001 22:41:19 -0400 From: meredith Subject: ekova in nyc Hi, Ekova is playing Central Park Summerstage on the afternoon of Sunday, July 15th, along with a couple other Middle Eastern-influenced groups from French-speaking countries. (Apparently that's how the Summerstage people plan to celebrate Bastille Day.) I'll definitely be there ... and conveniently, Kinnie Starr will be at the Mercury Lounge at 7:30 pm, so it will all work out. Yay. I just hope it doesn't rain like this past Sunday ... ugh. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Jul 2001 23:17:30 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Julieta Venegas in NY Hi, I know at least Valerie Richardson will be interested in this ... :) Julieta Venegas, billed as "Mexico's answer to Fiona Apple and PJ Harvey" will be performing as part of Celebrate Brooklyn at the Prospect Park Bandshell this Friday, July 6 at 7:30 pm. She's opening for a group called "Los Amigos Invisibles", a group from Venezuela that is on David Byrne's Luaka Bop label. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V7 #187 **************************
