Liz Fraser is so completely "Da Bomb"!I saw Switchblade Symphony at their infamous St. Marys Chuch concert ( A Catholic Church in Philly gave permission to Dancing Ferret Productions to hold a few concerts there, how were they to know people with fangs and horns would show up!). But mainly I come from the old school, I was big into Souxie, Sinead, Bauhaus, Kate Whatsherface (you know, the one that does "Climbing That Hill" or something like that, it's been so long since she's come out with anything, my memory fades). Right now I am part of a Hardcore Industrial project much in the tradition of Haujobb, working on getting a CD out there by the end of the year (It was supposed to be done by now, but my partner decided to fall in love with one of my best friends, so his marriage gets first billing, I'm not going to stand in the way of true love like Paul McCartney tried to do) Shameless Plug: http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/26/phane.html The three songs available are pretty old but they give you a general idea of what we're doing, I built some faster computers since that old stuff and we have state of the art music software and a not-too-shabby DAT recording studio.Sorry, I had to pull the most recent MP3 stuff, we are reworking the songs. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 May 2001 19:54:19 EDT From: Dracovixen@aol.com Subject: Re: Tapping the Vein Tapping the Vein opening for Sisters of Mercy and Switchblade Symphony!!!!? That's awesome!!! I like a lot of Gothic music, and I tend to be rivet-head at times, as well. I like Switchblade Symphony, Razed in Black, The Missing Persons, Velvet Acid Christ, Gary Numan, Lydia Lunch, Bahaus, Rasputina, Type O...all sorts of cool goth bands...and now Tapping the Vein! :) Black Dove In a message dated 5/4/01 12:09:01 AM Eastern Daylight Time, tmasapollo@home.com writes: << Hey Ted, I was happy to see your e-mail on "Tapping the Vein" I think it was one of the few times that I've seen the ectophiles talk about Gothic groups. But other labels have been getting on the bandwagon too. I've seen tribute records for everyone from Radiohead and The Cardigans to Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys. Two Weezer tributes were just released this year. Plus, the countless tribute records that are created through fan mailing lists and other independently produced methods. I'd be interested in hearing this new one on Tori though. Amber Asylum, Temple of Rain, and Jessicka (Jack Off Jill) are pretty popular artists in the goth world along with the other contributers. Percussionist challange Hah indeed, Greg Dunn! You jumped on that like a chicken on a June bug. (I asked last night who a young punky singer was whose song had the chorus "We're all the same inside.") I have been to Patti Rothberg's website and listened to "Inside." Good ear and memory, Mr. Dunn. According to Ms. Rothberg's site, _Between the 9 and 1_ is out of print. Gemm had several copies, so I'll purchase one. But I had hoped I could waltz into my nearest, local, gigantic, vertically and horizontally integrated record store and plunk down fifteen dollars for the record. I may drift by Barnes and Noble; they seem to have a collection that could conceivably include her. That's where I bought _Rhodes Songs_ and _Rhodes I and II_. I noticed Barnes and Noble didn't bother to restock the Rhodes section once I bought it out. Rothberg seems to be an interesting person. She draws/paints caricatures and portraits to pull in extra money. Has Happy ever thought of turning us all into monsters for a fee (revealing our true natures)? Okay, once again the ectopians prove to be unbeatable. Here's one I don't think anyone can get: In the 90s I watched a concert by Dizzy Gillespie on one of the arty cable stations (A&E or some such). I recall him playing lots of latin jazz, with an emphasis on Brazilian music. Dizz was great, but I was riveted by the percussionist. He didn't have a drum kit. He had a block of wood on which he pounded out the rhythms with a drum stick (sidestick without the drum). Every now and then he would reach over to a surdo and hit a beat. On the table in front of him he had all kinds of rhythmical toys he would pick up and work into the song. The songs did not need a drum kit, the guy covered the rhythm like a tornado. I want to know who that percussionist was, if one can buy the video, and if there is a CD or record of the event. Okay, thanks. Thanks, Greg. Then on the Project Lo Website, it also mentions that Happy will be touring w/Project Lo starting in July. When you're in the Project Lo Website, be careful not to click on the stupid Casino counter button. I did by mistake and it shut my whole system down. Anyway, apparently Happy's voice is used on Hansford Rowe's new album. Speaking of Projects......Epiphany Project will be in Phila at the Tin Angel on 5/18. I won't be going since Over the Rhine is playing the same night at the TLA. I saw Mary Fahl at the Tin Angel last week and she will be coming back on 5/23. The Tin Angel seems to be the hot spot right now in Phila for ecto (and lite goth) type music. I've never been to New Haven, but I see that Toad's Place is hosting Echo & the Bunnymen two nights before they come to Phila at the TLA. see ya, tom m. ps. http://www.lolorecords.com/ At 5/4/01 08:40 PM Friday, meredith wrote: >Hi, >tom m. noted: > >ps.
