My apologies for my late response - I have been out of town. Two peices of mail were returned. I would have posted to the list about it, but I thought I knew who they were both from. Sorry Troy. Someone returned their keys on Thursday and they closed the wrong box at the Post Office (mine). I don't think I could have imagined more rotten timing for such a hideous mistake. Luckily only two pieces of mail were returned and I have accounted for both of them. The problem is solved. Sorry for the panic. - - Shelly > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-ecto@smoe.org [mailto:owner-ecto@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Troy > J. I don't know about the orchestra, but the Thom Yorke portion has been cancelled due to time constraints :( I'm probably going to be seeing Kristin Hersh that night instead. Any Ectophiles in the DC area up for going to this concert? Travis reminds me of Jill Tracy and Ute Lemper, with a slight dash of Petula Clark: she has that nasty flapper thing going for her, and her songs are about loniless, madness, and heartbreak, all written with an ominous wit. Her voice is velvet, and the instrumentation on her cut CUTTHROAT STANDARDS AND BLACK POP is spectacular. Lemme know if you're interested. Info about her can be found her: - --Craig ===== Craig L. I could help line up a show at a "real" venue (Metro Cafe, Galaxy Hut, IOTA all might be possibles) and I have enough sound quipment at this point to handle a full band in a pretty good-sized room. I don't have a good-sized room of my own, but odds are pretty good that I could borrow one. I might even be able to borrow a 16mm projector. - -- d. - - oh no, you've just read mail from doug = dmw@radix.net - get yr pathos - - www.pathetic-caverns.com -- books, flicks, tunes, etc. = reviews - - www.fecklessbeast.com -- angst, guilt, fear, betrayal! = guitar pop ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Mar 2001 17:26:44 -0500 From: Valerie Richardson Subject: Re: Julieta Venegas Julieta Venegas' two CDs (Aqui and Bueninvento) are on the BMG label, U.S. Latin division, so they're widely available through all of the usual suspects. - --Valerie Bill wrote: > > On Sun, 11 Mar 2001 21:19:08 -0500, Valerie Richardson wrote: > > >A couple of years ago, I came across the debut CD from Julieta Venegas, > >a young Mexican artist whose work very much reminded me of Heather Nova > >or Fiona Apple. I didn't really mean for my explanation of Richard = coprolite to go out the other night. I was having second thoughts about the language. But mostly I was going to make a list of rhyming phrases in order to convey how the Cockney thing works. That meant combing through a slang dictionary for examples. You can never find things when you want them. Subseqently I saved the e-mail to draft, assuming it would stay there. Either I hit the wrong button or my computer decided to send the e-mail without consulting me. I think it is the latter, since I am such a hip and with-it computer guy.
