The production was beautiful, and I found it to actually have more of a trademark "sound"/less jazzy direction than when she'd worked with her (ex) husband, which impressed me; producing yourself is damn hard! Some really diverse, funky stuff, & a few of the songs just blew me away ("new dress" w/ Neill Finn is a masterpiece, I think). I'll see how it grows on me, I've only listened twice, but it was very groovy & kind of funk/r&b on several tracks too, which was refreshing... The only thing that bugged me was the title, "steady pull"; why name your album so close to someone else's (Shawn Colvin/"steady on") that everyone always says you sound like! Just a thought. then again, perhaps it's a tribute (?) or even better, she just don't give a shit :) xo Rachael ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Jan 2001 02:21:59 -0500 From: dave Subject: GEG/NP show Just got back from the sold out Grey Eye Glances/November Project show at the Media Theatre in Media PA. GEG came onstage shortly after 8pm and played for about an hour. They sounded great, did a good selection of songs including some new material they're working on for their next album, this was the last show before they start recording. For the encore they did their hit 'Halfway Back', during which they introduced the band members who each threw in a bit of a different song.. bass player Eric O'Dell sang 'Stayin Alive' (and not badly either) and when they got to guitarist Brett Kull he broke into the solo from 'Stairway to Heaven' only to be joined by Jennifer Nobel singing the ending, which is something you really have to see to appreciate.. After a short break NP came on.. I have the October Project CDs, but this was the first time I've seen November Project so I wasn't sure how they would compare. I only recognized a couple of OP songs, and one NP song I had heard on their website, so most of the songs were new to me. I was impressed, I enjoyed Mary Anne Marino's vocals, and the band was tight. I'm not sure who the guitarist was, but I got the impression he was a studio musician.. anyway, he did an excellent job as did the rest of them. Afterwards I stuck around and got Mary Anne and Julie Flanders' autographs, and I saw Julie talking to Dwayne Keith of GEG. After he walked away she commented that they'd been wanting to play with GEG for quite a while... The two bands made a perfect combination, and the theatre was a nice place to see them. It used to be a movie theatre (I spent many a saturday afternoon there when I was younger), seats about 600 and has a good sized stage, giving a reasonably intimate show while not being too confining (except for the seats, which were probably alright back when I was 10, but are a bit on the small side now). They are planning more shows in the next few months, including Eileen Ivers, Buddy and Julie Miller and Steve Forbert. More info at: http://www.mediatheatre.com/ I picked up a copy of both bands current EPs, November Project says they should have out a full album soon, and as I said GEG is about to start on their next one. dave ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Jan 2001 03:00:04 -0500 (EST) From: Mike Matthews Subject: Today's your birthday, friend... i*i*i*i*i*i i*i*i*i*i*i *************** *****HAPPY********* **************BIRTHDAY********* *************************************************** *************************************************************************** ******************* Sarah McLachlan (no Email address) ******************** *************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Sarah McLachlan Sun January 28 1968 Aquarius Ilka Heber Mon February 01 1965 Mermaid Bob Lovejoy Sun February 02 1947 Aquarius Diane Burke Sat February 02 1963 slow children Timothy S. This war was started by an innocent inquiry as to whether anyone else on that list liked Christian pop/rock. Please folks......Think before you reply to something. Just my opinion.
