There's a new Walkabouts album out again..this time its all covers by people like Stina Nordenstam, Solex(!),Jaques Brel and Mikis Theodorakis. It's called the Train Leaves at Eight and seems very nice. Anna Maria np-Queen Adreena-Taxidermy __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get Yahoo! I thought she was absolutely wonderful! I especially loved when she was backed up by the cello! I went to her website based on ecto's recommendation (www.sarahharmer.com) and thought the show would be fun. Her music sounded more like October Project than the samples on her page, but it was great! I absolutely recommend seeing her! christine __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get Yahoo! On a recent music buying expedition I turned up a two track CD single of "Roy (Back From The Offworld)". The disc includes the original album version of the song along with a wickedly funky remix of the same. My question for you lovely ecto-folk is: Are there any more of these singles out there? Are they terribly expensive, or can they be had for a (more or less) reasonable price? I paid two dollars for mine and felt as though I were making out like a bandit.... Anyway, as always, any and all help is welcome. "Roy" was the only single from MWABT and Samson put out the two-track CD only as a radio station promo. A relatively small number was pressed, though I couldn't give you a figure. In addition to those that were sent out to radio stations, Samson also gave them away at at least one of the few shows that Happy did in the Fall of '98 -- I know they were handing them out at the Painted Bride in Philly. I didn't manage to get one at that show (got out of the auditorium too slowly!), but managed to snag one later, thanks to a a kindhearted rep at Samson. In any event, yes, they're fairly rare and $2 was a definite snag! jeff n.p. peter himmelman, live at the tractor tavern 3/18/99 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jun 2000 20:37:34 -0500 From: Carolyn Andre Subject: New compilation CD available from WDIY-FM Thought the artists on this compilation might be of interest to folks on either list (if you're not on the folk music list already).
