I need to believe that people will keep their word, and it saddens me when they don't. But as it's my nature to be a good guy, let's talk and I can perhaps find one for you. They litter the used cd stores here in San Francisco! Vega returns along with six other acts to honor the folk and acoustic music club that supported many of them before their careers were launched nationally. Joining Vega are the spellbinding local singer-songwriter Vance Gilbert; legendary string-band player Howard "Louie Bluie" Armstrong; soulful and exceptional country balladeer Iris Dement; Chris Smither, consummate blues/acoustic, singer/songwriter, who played the club in the 1960s; Hart Rouge with their "roots music with a pop sensibility, and home-spun prairie Voices." Openers include Mary Gauthier, with her special brand of country-folk singing, and the Vinal Avenue String Band, who give a new twist to bluegrass and old-timey music. Club Passim, the premier venue for established and emerging folk performance artists, offers much more than the listening room it is noted for. For more than 40 years, Passim (and its predecessor Club 47) has presented a diverse palette of song, music, storytelling and poetry. Passim continues to broaden its offerings to include a music school, an active Culture for Kids initiative bringing music, food and other folks arts from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds to children, and an archive program dedicated to preserving the folk arts and culture of New England and the many strands which combine to create New England's rich heritage. Club Passim also maintains an ongoing series of workshops, seminars and art exhibits. Proceeds from this benefit concert will support the ever-growing nonprofit organization and its special programs. The event starts at 7:30pm at the Sanders Theatre. There will be a silent auction of great folk goodies. Tickets are $35/$25 and limited VIP tickets that include a post-concert reception with artists are $100 each. It's Vorizen (not Viatech). Thanks if anyone > can help! Yes! That voice is the amazing Kathy Fisher of the band Fisher. They were recently signed to Universal/Farmclub.com and are amazing!! I've been raving about them forever--you must get their album "one". They are rerecording some tracks from it for their major label debut. Her voice is amazing sexy, lush, and beautiful... cool lyrics, great instrumentation. Her parter-in-crime is Ron Wasserman (also her husband) who writes the music and does a lot of the producing. They are going to be big! She also does the vocals for the amtrack, glade, and the "freedom is calling" song for a major car company but the name escapes me now (the song goes "freedom is calling here i am")... They are also 2 of the nicest people ever... very cool and fun.
