Just wanted to remind y'all of a few upcoming shows and some recent news in the MPress Records/Rachael Sage camp. Hope you're enjoying the beginnings of spring and getting away from your computer screens a little to check out the big, blue (today!) sky... • Firstly, Rachael Sage will be appearing next: SATURDAY, MARCH 18 @ THE BOTTOM LINE, 7:30 & 10:30 PM. (15 West 4th St. / corner of Mercer) ...advanced tix on sale at the Bottom Line box office: 212.228.6300 This should be a really great night! Rachael is thrilled to be supporting one of our favorite groups, November Project, and is excited to perform some new tunes and wear some new underthings (no time to shop for new vinyl pants, sorry) at a NEW (for her) venue!!!! Lineup: Rachael-piano, Ben Butler-guitar, Jagoda-percussion, Carol Sharar-violin. We recommend purchaseing tix in advance, we've been told the first show is already close to selling out... • Also, Rachael will be performing at: THE KNITTING FACTORY on THURSDAY, APRIL 13 at "What I Like About Jew: An Evening of Money Songs To Commemorate Tax Day..." We don't have all the details yet about this bizarre and irreverent (we've been warned) gathering of Jewish singer-songwriters and performance artists, except that the bill will feature an impressive array of NY talent, including Patti Rothberg, Sean Altman, Nancy Magarill, and Ivy Markaity among others. Psyched to be invited, intrigued by what madness may occur. More details to come... • Other upcoming shows: * SATURDAY, APRIL 28, ARLENE GROCERY, NYC - 8PM (full-band lineup!) * FRIDAY, APRIL 13, THE ACOUSTIC CAFE, Bridgeport , CT - 9PM (acoustic) ___________________________________________________________ Also, check out this week's issue of The New York Resident, which features a few words on Rachael, November Project and their show this Saturday...Thanks to writer Jeff Breithupt for supporting indie artists! Well, that's about everything, for now, whew! We hope you can make it down to The Bottom Line on the 18th, or to another gig in the next month or so. Thanks so much for all of the incredible emails, psychic-well-wishing, and for um, not complaining when Rachael's candies go a little stale :) (sorry, Makor folks....!) Farewell for now, thanks for supporting independent everything... - -The Folks at MPress Records * * * www.rachaelsage.com * * * To be removed from this list, just hit reply and kvetch a little - sorry if you've somehow been added in error. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Mar 2000 13:23:27 EST From: SpiritWe@aol.com Subject: Correction-Rachael Sage News RACHAEL SAGE NEWS * * * * * * * * * * * Ooops! Hello again...There were - eek! - two errors that have been brought to our attention from our last emailing, sorry for the inconvenience: • The Arlene's show is on FRIDAY April 28th (not Saturday....) also: • The Acoustic Cafe show in Bridgeport is on Friday April 14th (not the 13th....) Hope to see some of y'all this Sat. at The Bottom Line! ...Thanks & have a beautiful day! She has a gorgeous voice and songs that remind me of Sarah Mclachlan. You can also download her at MP3.com. Try it, and tell me if you like it, I think her CD is wonderful! - -Nick ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Mar 2000 01:29:23 EST From: NNadelS@aol.com Subject: new stuff Feburary has been good to me..... Moby-Play: Oh, this is essiential! One of the best CDs all year, beautiful songs, not a bad one on the whole thing. More ambient than dance, just great. Air-Virgin Suicides Soundtrack: Air is still working on the follow-up to their wonderful Moon Safari album, in the meantime this mostly instrumental soundtrack for the upcoming Sophia Coppolla film should tide fans over. Really moody, sexy and dark. Darker than previous work, I suggest Moon Safari first, then this since the two are pretty different. Tara Maclean-Passenger: I was going to wait on this one since I burned out on Silence ( I like it, but it reminds me of freshman year of college now). But I sa it for 10 bucks and I'm pleasantly surprised with it. Production is heavier than Silence, every singer-songwriter now usues trip-hop beast ad nauseum. "Divided", "Jericho" and "Dryland" are standouts. I expect to her the flitty single "If I Fall" on the WB any day now. Overall though better than I expected. The Cure-Bloodflowers: This album fits in with Disintegration and Pornography, very somber but some great songs. No big hits here, but "Maybe Someday", "Bloodflowers" and the first track are great and the rest is nice. If this is their last album as they say ( and some of the lyrics suggest it as well) then this is a good way to go out. Anyone else? - -Nick ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Mar 2000 23:46:07 -0700 From: neal copperman Subject: Michelle SHocked I was glancing over the Birchmere web pages the other day (hey, don't ask me why. I'm not going to any shows there, as it's now 2000 miles away. Just habit, I guess.) Anyway, I noticed that Michelle SHocked is playing a show there in the next month or so. Anyone know what she's up to? I went to check the old shellshock.com page and get redirected to a video game, so that seems to be gone. (Note to Neile - something to fix in the ecto guide.) DOn't know if there is a new page anywhere.
