Sirenes has the same effect on me as well Joyce. :-) Suite Bergamasque includes the popular and beautiful Debussy piece "Clair de Lune". > Another favorite composer of mine is Ottorino Respighi. Hi, I'm currently working on the Ectophiles' Guide entry for Enya, and I'm surprised to find that I have next to nothing for comments on her album "Watermark", even though it's considered to be her best album by most. I have plenty for "The memory of trees", and a few for "Enya"/"The Celts" and "Shepherd moons", but only one for "Watermark". So, if anybody would like to send me comments on "Watermark" to include in the Guide, feel free. Also some general comments about her music would be welcome. Please send them to me at Marion.Kippers@wkap.nl, or to the list. Thanks! And does anybody know if we can expect a new release by her sometime in the not too far away future? I seem to recall a new album was anounced for late 1999 or early 2000, but I can't find any info about that anymore. Best wishes, Marion n.p.i.m.h. Julia Darling - Figure 8 n.r. As for classical, JoAnn was interested in hearing more Mahler since she loves Symphony No. 1. I've always loved his Symphony #5, in particular the Adagietto. It's somewhat of a controversial piece because many conductors drag it out to 10-11 minutes when Mahler wrote it for about 7 minutes originally. They like to do this to make it even more romantic, even more emotional. But Mahler never understood that...he always thought of it as a happy piece. So depending on what you're looking for, choose the conductor who stays true to form or doesn't! It's really great to see people so enthusiastic about classical here, as I work for Universal Classics, home of Deutsche Grammophon, Decca and Philips. Glad that a bunch of you enjoyed Anne-Sophie Mutter's last CD. The booklet in itself is really enjoyable to read with the interviews and the layout and design is amazing. It was quite fun to look at the names of the musicians as I know almost all of them personally. What makes it such a great recording is the fact that it is done like Vivaldi himself intended it, and not with a zillion musicians in the orchestra. - -- Yngve n.p.
