Monday, January 10th Susan McKeown Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill Eric Bibb Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir Doors Open at 6:30 Cover: $15 I would guess this is actually two separate shows, with Susan, Martin and Dennis being together. I would rather have this Kate CD over all others combined! ( in particular for the last half of it which is called The Ninth wave ) Next it's a toss up between Sensual World and the Dreaming. I'm not really particularly familiar with her CDs before and after these, but you might want to avoid The Red Shoes, I never really got into that one. - -- John L Rice Drummer@ImJohn.com http://www.ImJohn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 09 Jan 2000 13:40:06 -0500 From: Michael Curry Subject: Jan 10th! If you can find a copy of the 1986 compilation _The Whole Story_, that might be the best introduction to the bulk of her work. All of her first five albums are represented there. That was my introduction to her all those years ago, and it was a good one for me. She has released two albums since then, _The Sensual World_ and _The Red Shoes_. If you like _Hounds Of Love_ you'll probably go for _TSW_, but I hesitate to reecommend _TRS_ because IMNSHO compared to her other stuff, it's crap. :) >For Christmas, my favorite aunt gave me a gift voucher, and I was inches away from walking out of the store with the complete box set of Kate's (This Woman's Work) but I wasn't sure ... not because of Kate, just because of me ... I wondered whether it might be better to start off with a few particular records? Wow. I didn't know there were still any of those box sets around. I haven't seen one in eons. Hate to tell you this, but if you do end up getting into her stuff, you *will* be kicking yourself for passing it up.
