I'm in NYC tonight (Fri) through Nov. 28. I am covering a bunch of theater for the paper. I have friends who are going to most of the shows with me (On- and Off-Broadway), however I have no "date" for three of them. It's a free ticket, so if anyone's intersted in these shows and times, let me know. First come first serve. "Dame Edna: The Royal Tour" Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2pm revival of "Kiss Me, Kate" Wednesday, Nov. 24, 8pm (opening night) revival of "The Rainmaker" Friday, Nov. 26, 2pm E-mail me at my hotmail account (ectoplastic@hotmail.com) if you're interested. That's the only thing I'll have access to. Mark n.p. People might consider banding together for an order, or giving the gift of music for the holidays. Those of you who were at ectofest may recall a CD I had played over the PA during the last break, right before Happy's set. The setup for Happy was long enough that almost the entire CD got played, and during that time, a fair number of you were interested enough in what was playing to get up and go over to the sound booth to inquire. However, I only got names & addresses from three people, so I'm hoping to reach the rest of you here. The artist was Liz Nickrenz, and that was her first CD, Unspeakable Crushes, which had just come out this summer. I had just met her, and first heard her sing, the Friday before ectofest, when she performed as part of a semi-open-mic at WBRS. Shortly after ectofest, I began doing booking & publicity for Liz. Those of you who gave me your addresses at ectofest have already received this mailing, but for the rest of you, here it is, the first mailing to the brand new Liz Nickrenz announcement list. Date: Tue, 16 Nov 1999 05:30:26 -0500 From: Ofer Inbar To: Elizabeth Nickrenz Subject: Liz Nickrenz: New web site, and shows 11/20 & 12/10 Welcome to Liz Nickrenz's brand new mailing list! Life is still strange, and there remains a good deal to be said about it. To that end, Liz Nickrenz, acoustic-guitar toting siren of the spaces in-between, will be appearing at the Lion's Den at Wheaton College on Saturday night, November 20th. And if you miss that, she'll be performing at the WBRS Coffeehouse on Friday afternoon, December 10th. To quote Liz, "this is Liz's intrepid booking agent, chiming in with the practical details." :-) First off, the web site is now ready to look at, and even be somewhat useful. There are photos of Liz, album liner notes, lyrics to all the songs on the album, a (very brief) Liz bio, and links to get her gig schedule from Musi-Cal. We'll be expanding the site with more bio and background, more photos, lyrics to more songs, perhaps even sound samples, in time. But take a look at the "first draft", as it were. http://www.liznickrenz.com/ Second, come out to one of Liz's two remaining 1999 gigs - both are FREE! Open to all ages, too. And in places where you can sit, eat, and relax. Saturday, November 20th 9pm - 11pm The Lion's Den at Wheaton College Norton, MA To get to The Lion's Den from Boston, take I-95 south to I-495 south. Get off 495 at Exit 10, Norton. Turn right at the end of the ramp, onto Route 123, aka Main Street, toward Norton center. When you reach the center of Norton, you will see the Wheaton campus on your left. Turn left onto Route 140. The Lion's Den will be on your left. Or, you could get off 495 at exit 11, and take Route 140 south for about two and a half miles. After you cross Route 123, look for The Lion's Den on your left. The Lion's Den serves food and drink. There is no cover charge. Friday, December 10th 3pm - whenever Liz feels like finishing WBRS FM Usdan Student Center at Brandeis University Waltham, MA This show will be broadcast live on 100.1 FM, so you can listen even if you're not right there. But if you *do* come see Liz, not only do you not have to pay, but you can enjoy free bagels and cream cheese (donated by Rosenfelds Bagels, 1280 Centre Street, Newton Center). Details about WBRS and its live music series at http://www.wbrs.org/ Directions to WBRS by car and by public transportation are at: http://www.wbrs.org/directions.html I hope to see you at one of these shows! You'll get an update by email when we get more stuff on the web site, and when the first batch of 2000 gigs get booked. -- Cos (Ofer Inbar) -- cos@wbrs.org cos@polyamory.org "Cops are always a bit menacing; hackers hard to trust.
