Someone please help me: I have a (one) second row center seat for Laurie's Moby Dick at the Zellerbach on Tuesday the 26th. Unfortunately Les Nubians is at Bimbo's that night as well, and I really don't want to miss them. This is the only Moby Dick ticket I have. Anyone got a single ticket (in a seat that doesn't *completely* suck) for any other night that they would like to trade for a second row center seat? I cannot stress ENOUGH how much Kym Brown rules... she's just the bomb the bomb the bomb... so y'all really need to get her album if you haven't already... and if you don't download at least ONE of these mp3s to see (it's free, no cost to you!) whether or not you like her, then you're passing up an incredible opportunity. Second that! I've got the first three tracks so far, and wow, is this a real guitar on "Sterilize"? That's a side of Kym Brown I never encountered until now! Highly recommended for anyone with mp3 capability... come on everybody, let's hit Damon's site and simulate that slashdot effect he desires :) ... and BTW, whatever happened to that search engine for the Ecto archives? it looked perfectly fine and usable in beta version, but then it vanished... or am I missing something? - ------------------------------------------------------ The trouble with the emperor's new clothes now is that everybody knows they don't exist and, still, they want some just like them. -- Andrei Codrescu - ------ http://www.zip.com.au/~afries/hall.html ------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Oct 1999 22:00:38 PDT From: "Nick Nadel" Subject: Re: sarah maclachlan video I didn't have high hopes for this since the live cd is so-so, but I'm actually pleasantly surprised. Lots of good old songs that aren't on the CD ( I will not forget you, Vox, Elsewhere) and all of the songs are well performed. the video is almost as good as the stellar fumbling towards ectsasy live tape from a few years back. one con: hold on, my hands down favorite sarah song, has been slowed down signifigantly recently. this song has so much drive and urgency usually but on mirroball and her recent live performances it's been prettied up and slowed down, although i do like the harmony with camille henderson ( when is she gonna get her own cd?) as for sarah's popularity....i agree that commercial radio found her. she just happened to have a more commercial alubum when Lilith hit big. Fumbling is a far superior record to Surfacing, but the fact is she's someone whos' been doing great, accessible music and bulinding a huge fan base and she finally hit it real big. as for her old "waif like" appearance....i'd say she had more of an ethereal/tragic girl appearance ( i know alot of goths who loved her when fumbling came out and wouldn't be caught dead listening to her now.) she's happier now and it shows. good for her. - -nick ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Oct 1999 22:18:12 -0400 From: Bill Adler Subject: Maire Brennan I just learned, courtesy of the Celtic music list, that Maire Brennan's got a new CD coming out, "Whisper to the Wild Waters." She'll also be doing a tour in the US at various locations including the Birchmere (Nov. 21st) and Tin Angel (Nov. 28th). There's more information at the unofficial Clannad site, http://music.acmecity.com/world/6/index.htm, and of course a review of Maire Brennan's music on Ecto. - --Bill n.p.
