TORI: VENUS ORBITING. it hasn't sunk in yet. i am not sure it will. i should give it more time, but i have been too preoccupied with LORI CARSON's STARS album, which i noticed has not been mentioned a lot on the list. just came out a couple of weeks ago, i was talking to DREW and he said that it was the best of her solo CD's and after repeat listenings, i agree. highly recommended for those who haven't gotten it yet. ps. thanks SARAH KRAMER, i picked up DRESSY BESSY and it was like you said INCREDIBLY TWEE. i haven't really listened to it since i picked it up, as i haven't been in the right mood for it, but the SARAH DOUGHER's DAY ONE is really nice. very LOIS like in the guitar, but not as quirky in the vocals. anyone know what MS LOIS is up to? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Oct 1999 03:00:04 -0400 (EDT) From: Mike Matthews Subject: Today's your birthday, friends... i*i*i*i*i*i i*i*i*i*i*i *************** *****HAPPY********* **************BIRTHDAY********* *************************************************** *************************************************************************** ******* Wolfgang Drotschmann (drotschm@eos.informatik.uni-bonn.de) ******** ********************* Gracescape (Gracescape@aol.com) ********************* *************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Wolfgang Drotschmann Thu October 13 1966 Waage Gracescape Fri October 13 1967 unbalanced Brian Bloom Tue October 14 1969 spam Erik N. The single is called "I Saved the World Today." At first, I thought it was a bit lifeless since it's very orchestrated and ballady. But after hearing the acoustic version that they performed at NetAid this weekend and that is also on part 1 of the single, I like it more. The chorus gets in your head and won't leave. The other songs I've heard are "Lifted," which is also on part 1 of the single, and "17 Again." Neither lives up to Eurythmics in their heyday, but they are both decent songs. "Lifted" is very soulful and not very memorable. "17 Again" is much more catchy and reminiscent of songs from _Revenge_. Annie in multiple interviews has stated this is the best work they've ever done as Eurythmics, so that's encouraging for the album as a whole. Whatever the case, I'm just glad to see Eurythmics back together and touring. If only they were coming to Atlanta and not limiting their US tour to NY and LA. Ma name is Ariusz and I live in Poland. Here in my country it is very difficult to get Happy Rhodes' albums. I managed to collect all the cd's thanks to two great people: Klaus Kluge and Tim Cook. They were so nice and agreeded to make some album-swapping with me. Thank You very much. I would like to thank also to Elisabeth Braffet who introduced me to Happy music, sending me the cassette with sample of her music. I loved that music from the first listening. It is no small feat to acquire all of Happy's albums even in the United States, so it's pretty impressive that you managed to pull it off in Poland. How do you pronounce your name? I am going to be in Poland (for the first time) in November. Perhaps you (or anyone) could suggest some things that I should be sure to do. I know, I should probably give more info, like where I will be in Poland, but I've been leaving most of the planning to my friend in Germany, so I'm not really sure at the moment. In fact, all I know about the trip is that we are going to Prague and Budapest (ok, I do know that neither of those is in Poland), the Haribro and Birkenstock factories in Germany (2 essential ingredients in my life), and, uh, somewhere in Poland. I'll get back to you on this one. I think MWABT is rapidly becoming my favorite Happy album. Though maybe it's just cause I've been listening to it (or,more appropriately, live tapes from it) the most lately. Not sure what is my standout track though.
