JoAnn ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 May 1999 19:52:44 -0400 From: meredith Subject: live from bridgeport, it's friday night! Hi! In case anybody's around and cares, I just thought I'd post a reminder that it's Friday night, and WPKN now has a RealAudio feed. Ray Terlaga is off this evening, and Kathy is filling in until 10 pm Eastern time. This means you can tune in and hear music straight out of the pages of ecto all evening. So far I've heard: several by Beth Orton and several by Heather Nova, as well as Shelleyann Orphan, Cindy Lee Berryhill, Sweeter Than Wine, and Sinead Lohan, among others. , or 89.5 fm if you're in the area. Have a nice evening, all. I'm off to drown my sorrows - I just found out today that due to a business trip, I'm not going to be able to see Beth Orton in NYC next month. +==========================================================================+ | Meredith Tarr meth@smoe.org | | New Haven, CT USA http://www.smoe.org/~meth | +==========================================================================+ | "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille | | *** TRAJECTORY, the Veda Hille mailing list: *** | | *** http://www.smoe.org/meth/trajectory.html *** | +==========================================================================+ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 May 1999 19:41:33 -0500 From: "Mickey Ferguson" Subject: Re: live from bridgeport, it's friday night! Thanks for letting me know about WPKN's RealAudio feed, Meredith. I was certainly interested in hearing some nice ecto-ish music on this humid Friday night. Unfortunately their server is limited to only 25 connections. Naturally, I can't get the signal. :-( For those interested in the direct link to the music: http://www.wpkn.org/wpkn/live.rm (try not to all log in at once, please!) ;-) Best regards, - ---Mickey Austin TX USA n.p. Knowing that Lamb's new CD has been released in Europe and that the local Virgin Mega(rip-off)store imports these things ASAP was too much for me. My impatience convinced me that $30 was not too much to spend to be able to fulfill my need for new Lamb *NOW* - so I did it. Right after the Gus Gus show, I dropped into Virgin at 11:05pm. They were closed, but when I told the guy filtering customers out of the store that my item was on hold at the counter he let me in to make my purchase. Hell, at these kinds of prices, that's the level of service I expect! So, I've listened to it about a half dozen times now and I LOVE it. It's a little different from the first one, but just as good. It's a little more moody and a *little* less rhythmically intense than "Lamb". If you liked the first one, you will not be disappointed. It has been worth waiting for - and if you can't wait anymore, as I couldn't, it will be worth your money. 8-) I heard the US release is July 27th, and that it is being retitled "Fear of God". Don't know if it's true, but I didn't make it up! Couple more interesting things: Track 4 is untitled on the track list. It's a little 9 second long b-line follow-up sound effect. Lastly, there is a 2:47 long hidden track prior to track one. Kindly, the first 20 or so seconds is silence to make it easy to not overshoot the beginning when fast reversing. How kind of them!
