I saw them last tour and they were great live. A multimedia tour-de-force. Of course the fact that Lamb opened that show didn't hurt! For those of you in range of the NY and MA lilith shows - don't miss Lamb on the second stage. (Another CD I can't wait for!) Gus Gus Goodie: Order your copy through towerrecords.com for an interesting promo - the opportunity to build your own Gus Gus Remix disk by selecting between 5-15 of 15 (sometimes rare) remixes of songs from this and the previous CD. Not free 8-( .99 a song isn't too bad though. I'm sure they're burning CDRs here. You also get to label the front of the disk with a line of text of your choosing. Drew N.P. It's definitely a lot more of a rock sound than the last two albums, but twangy? C'mon! My first I-dunno-how-many listens were a little dissapointing; I had a feeling she'd never live up to the brilliance of _Willing to Wait_, but now I find _Everything I Need_ to be just as strong. Not just good stuff, but great. Mmmmm.... jeff np: _Smash, Clap!_, Naftule's Dream - -- |Jeffrey C. All three of these artists have entries in The Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music (http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide) I'm also a fan of Keith Jarrett's solo piano works--mostly the ones from the 70s & 80s, and _Survivor Suite_. I'm not a huge mainstream jazz fan, so I don't really like that much of his group work. - --Neile - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Neile Graham ...... http://www.sff.net/people/neile ....... neile@sff.net Les Semaines: A Weekly Journal . http://www.sff.net/people/neile/semaines The Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music ....... http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2000 22:12:39 -0700 From: "Kristen Weissleader" Subject: Lycia Is anybody familiar with Lycia? I bought a few of their cds recently. The most currently released, "Estrella", has a female vocalist on some of the songs, I think she joined the group on that cd. I absolutely love the guitar sounds on this cd. It's beautiful and dark in tone. There is a man that also does vocals in a kind of speak-sing way that gets a little irritating to me after a while which is mostly why I haven't listened to a second cd of theirs I bought. They have other cds, but I'm not sure if I should buy these...if anyone is more familiar with them perhaps they could recommend something. They do seem to have a few non-vocal songs on those two albums which fits into one of the current messages I'd read from another ecto-phile (I'm sorry, I deleted the message too soon.) Thanks.
