When woj and I moved into the current House O'Muzak, we were convinced we had WAY too many CDs. (Not to mention LPs, tapes, books, and kitchen implements.) Then we decided that we're just going to live out the rest of our days at this address and got over it. :) I don't recommend that anyone emulate our filing system. As an example of what NOT to try at home, our "system" goes somewhat like this: - -- In the living room, we have the 4 400-disc CD shelves, which are full. The discs in them are organized alpha by artist, chronological within each artist, with singles alpha following each album (like Nadyne - sorry to freak you out even more). Tori, KaTe, and Robyn Hitchcock have their own shelves on top of the big ones. Boxed sets live up there too. Various Artist compilations follow (alpha by title), then soundtracks, then Christmas compilations, then Classical (alpha by composer). As you leave the living room, please ignore the CDs stacked on the stereo and the coffee table. I'm pretending they don't exist, so you should too. On to the computer room. This is where the "new stuff" (i.e. everything we've bought in the past 3 years, when the 4 400-disc CD shelves in the living room got full up) lives. There are piles of discs on the computer table, a 60-disc tower next to the bookshelf containing Assorted Goddesses (Veda, Jane, Happy, Mila Drumke, Susan McKeown, Rainbirds), and oh yeah, the three Xena soundtracks buried on the bottom where I hope nobody will notice. :) The bookshelf itself is stacked four shelves high with CDs, it's totally solid. In front of the bookshelf on the floor are several more short stacks of discs. Nothing in this room is stored following any logic whatsoever. Only woj can find anything in there without a large amount of frustration and pain. Latest guesstimated total disc count is 3,000. And I'm not even going to get started on the tapes. Oy. We do have a box of discs which we let visitors paw through - if you can actually find something you like in there, it's yours. Bill, I tried as well with the same results. I pulled the number from my memory, which is generally very good with numbers but not infallible. I may have given an incorrect number for them. > Does anyone have an alternate number for West Chester Books? No, I > haven't called directory insistance. I did try directory assitance and they couldn't locate the number. Rich Rapp was the kind gent that posted the info about WC Books & Music originally about a month ago. During my quest for Warpaint as a trade for Rearmament with Horter I found out that they were once a part of a small chain of five CD stores in PA and DE called Rainbow Records (or something like that). Anyhow, I wrote Rich an e-mail asking him to see if he could track down a valid telephone number for them and then post it here on Ecto for you. Hopefully he will be able to help you out. > Does anyone have any other hints as to finding Happy CDs on the AG > label? > > Many on-line services advertise Happy's CDs, but, of course, upon > closer look, they show "out of stock". I wanted to bring up a few subjects for potential discussion. 1) How many of you here on Ecto were saddened by the death of Stanley Kubrick? He has always been one of my favorite film directors. He always put a stamp of brilliance on everything that he touched. I was very sad to hear of his death. A great talent has left us, IMO. 2) Have any of you seen the new Star Wars trailer? I'm really getting even more excited about it's release! The first trailer was just a teaser. This one gives a really good glimpse into the plot line. Visually, it looks like it will be a grand epic.
