Has she done anything since _Fountain of Youth_? Mark n.p. Still Ani ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 01 Feb 1999 22:00:13 -0600 From: Mark Lowry Subject: Michelle Shocked in the EGTGM Hi, Twas cruising through the Ectophile's Guide to Good Music, which I haven't visited in a few months, and was looking at the entry for one of my favorite artists -- Michelle Shocked. Two things have recently spurred me to listen to her again: 1) she has been mentioned here a few times of late; 2) A few weeks ago I visited Paris, Texas, where I lived for several years and which is very close to the small town Gilmer, where she grew up (and mentions on _Short Sharp Shocked_, along with tons of other East Texas references). Anyway, I noticed that her most recent of privately released discs, _Good News_, is on the EGTGM. She didn't swing through Dallas in 1998, so I didn't know about that one. I do have _Artists Make Lousy Slaves_, which she sold on her 1996 or 1997 tour. It's a collaboration with Fiachna O'Braonain (formerly of Hothouse Flowers, I believe). They both autographed it. Also, didn't she sell a private disc at her concerts in 1994/1995? Anyone know that name of that? If anyone has (or knows anyone who has) or wants to get rid of _Good News_ and/or the first privately released thing -- I'm interested. No? OK, does anyone have them who wants a copy of _Artists Make Lousy Slaves_? We could do the trade/copy (gasp!) thing. And EGTGM editors: I'll be happy to submit something on_AMLS_ for the guide. Later, Mark n.p. Ani DiFranco _Upx6_ (And I agree with Neile -- I rather like it, in fact, more than LPC) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Feb 1999 20:39:54 -0800 From: Neile Graham Subject: Re: snakefarm/innocence mission At 9:19 PM -0500 2/1/99, cinders blue wrote: >so, i just got the latest snakefarm (aka anna domino and michael delory) >newsletter (new album coming out february 23rd! woo hoo!) and went to the >website of their record label to learn >more. and what do i notice at the bottom of the page? yup: the innocence >mission has been signed to kneeling elephant (apparently distributed by >rca) and have a new record coming out this summer! yay! Sheesh, woj, pay attention! I mentioned this a couple of months ago! I also mentioned Sixpence None the Richer. We saw a different pre-movie soundtrack video for the song. Sigh. I feel like a Leonard Cohen album. No one listens to me. - --Neile n.p. david usher, _little songs_ (hey I actually bought a new album by a male! No one faint. Or feint.
