Also, does everyone elses disc fade in and out during "Proof" - I'm sure it does since it happens right on beat at the same point over and over in the song. It's really irritating to listen to - especially here at work where I have to keep the CD turned low anyway. I would have to say my votes are for "Tragic", "Looking Over Cliffs", and "Ra is a Busy God". I think that these tracks are the closest Happy has come to sounding like her older material in a LONG time. Whereas with BTC, there were no returns to her dark side. by the way, we now have a "Winter" to go with "Summer". do you guys predict a "Spring" or "Autumn" somewhere down the road? But, mistakenly thinking they'd already left (no answer on the phone), I never bothered walking it over to their apartment. Cut to the next morning, when my dad calls me at work to tell me they're heading out. I suggest he swing by my home and pick up the tape from the dining room table, without specifying *which* tape to pick up. Upon arriving home, I find the Brill/Klezmatics tape still on the table, and can't figure out which *other* tape from the table they might have picked up. So when he calls last night, he says something like "That music was ... interesting ..." There followed about five minutes of me trying to figure out what the hell it might have been. Turned out to be the tape with _Am I Not Your Girl_ (Sinead) on one side, and Neneh Cherry's _Homebrew_ on the other. While I would expect them to dig the hell out of the Sinead album, I never would have thought to give them Neneh Cherry to listen to. Apparently they enjoyed it. ;-) (the kicker in figuring out the tape was when my dad remembered hearing something from _Evita_) I was rather tickled. Anyway. A few weeks ago, on Conan O'Brian, I saw Eagle-Eye Cherry perform, and thought it was pretty groovy. The single he performed, "Save Tonight," has started getting some airplay around here. Being Neneh Cherry's brother, I figured this was at least a vaguely appropriate place to ask if anybody'd heard the album. jeff ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Aug 1998 12:47:08 -0700 (PDT) From: David Liebson Subject: ordering from A&B sound ? Americans really win with the exchange rate. I've received 3 orders from A&B, and I just put in a new order yesterday. They may not be as fast as CDNOW (it took ~2 weeks in the past), but they're reliable. You don't have to deal with customs or anything like that. Great stuff! I had it on the truck's tape player two weeks ago. And, since the name Bacharach was mentioned briefly, I'll note a new collaborative disc from Burt & Elvis Costello due out the end of September. Not for everyone, but I'll buy it. MWABT has been hard to come by here in Charlotte. There were two promo copies at a used shop a few weeks before it's release, but I've only seen one legit copy at Border's here. I wanna buy it, but I hate to snag the only copy in town. Sharon, when my copy of TI #12 gets here, would it be okay if I photocopied a few pages about the new disc, added an info cover sheet, and distributed a copy to some of the local shops for their employees to read? I said it that night, I think she has proven her genius by changing gears like this and doing it so well. And by the way............. she kicked my ass with Rasberry swirl, Waitress, and Cruel. I still cant believe the versions were so totally different from the way they were recorded. And I also did, and still do have this desire to see her again.........over and over. Amazing show to say the least. But what do I know, I thought that WHY TORI CANT READ was a good album when taken in the context of QUARTERFLASH or PAT BENATAR.
