Hi Neile, I still have not gotten _Whore_, but haven't been spending a lot lot lot on CDs lately. I do like _Whoman Foursays_ (any clues on the title? I always thought it was meant to be interpreted as how it sounds... but maybe I'm wet behind the ears..). So I'm not really familiar with other CDs by her. What are you calling "early Danielle Dax"? I do have several of hers! By the way, the house concert / poetry reading sounds great. I've carried one or the other of your books around in my backpack for a while so I can take little reads (I have _Sheila-na-gig_ and _Spells for a Clear Vision_). Sara Craig? I saw her as an opening act for someone else, I forget who, at Mama Kin a few years ago, and she caught my attention. I definitely remember her electric violin playing, and that was probably what got me interested in her. I do not at all remember being annoyed or displeased with her voice, though. I wonder if it was just unremarkable and I forgot. Oh well, soon I shall find out again. Any Bostonians curious to hear Deni Bonet, I've got her booked for two shows at WBRS this year. The first is just as a duo, on Wednesday night July 8th. The second is with the full band, on Friday afternoon September 18th (tentative). Details about our live music series at http://www.wbrs.org/ Incidentally, Rose Polenzani & Jess Klein, both of whom I've heard discussed here, are both listed as "tentative" for July 1 and 2 respectively. I'm about to confirm both of them within a day or two, but I'm pretty sure at least one of them will be swapped for a slightly later date when I do that. Schedule premitting, I'll be going to that. I loved the tail end of the MF show I caught there a few months ago. > Has anyone on the list heard of Jane Brody? There was an intriguing review > of her set opening for Mike Scott a few years ago, but I've not been able > to find anything on her since. I've seen Jane Brody and have a copy of her disc. She splits her time between NYC and the DC area. She played a number of Lilly Fairies shows with Lisa Cerbone and Vyktoria Pratt Keating. (Hey, how's VPK's tour going? Anyone go see her?) I saw on of the Lilly Fairies shows here in Baltimore, and thought it was a lot of fun. However, I wasn't all that impressed with Jane. I thought she was the most carefree and fun on-stage, the best of the three able to improvise her way into the others songs, and had a brash and entertaining stage presence. I already loved the subtle lyricism of Lisa's songs and was impressed with the VPK's voice, but Jane's stuff didn't do much for me. She was a great addition to the show, but I wasn't too excited to listen to the album. I did pick up a copy anyway, and gave it a quick listen or two. It's still in my pile of things to get back to for 2nd and 3rd chances, but on a first pass it didn't make much of an impression. Her album is called Grin, and is available from Levelhead Records, PO Box 3084, Baltimore MD 21229. (410) 455-9522. Oh, there's a Robyn Hitchcock cover on the album too, which should make it interesting to some of you.
