So this summer I will be a bi-city girl, so any unanswered email, sorry, I am staying on a friend's couch and she has the nerve to not have a computer! At first I jonesed major, then I just missed it, then I got over it. Also, have a ticket to the opening night of LILITH FAIR here in Portland next Friday and I will be in SF instead, anyone out there want it??? let me know fast. Again, I am reviewing the new singer I found down there for you all, Pipa Pinon and will send that in the best of ecto guide soon. She is amazing...in two lines she runs from the purity of a Kate Bush soprano line to a deep warm Happy Rhoades low, with a quirky Jane Siberry lyric and a Rickie Lee Jones growl. Only one album out and I am wearing my CD thin. I made friends with her, really nice also so if anyone wants a Cd let me know soon and I will get them from her and ship them to you cause I highly highly recommend her. All for now, spent the day playing music from a boat with Blind and Thoth and watching the very stunned expressions of normal people hearing tribal trance music played acousic from a boat and a classical violin played by a almost naked man. What perfect vampire soundtrack music! At a book signing around the time they were filming _Interview with the Vampire_, I gave Anne Rice a copy of _Equipoise_ along with a long note explaining why I thought she would especially be interested in "He Will Come/The Flight." For those of you in the DC area, the Nields and the Kennedys are on the main stage at the opening night of the Columbia Festival for the Arts. The festival is in the heart of Columbia (or at least the old heart - the Mall is fading in importance now that the BIG STORES have moved in). That's right by the large artificial lake, called something like Lake Kinimikundy. Next weekend (can't remember if it's Friday or Saturday), the festival will be closing with Eddie From Ohio and Moxey Fruvous on stage. And I will definitely be seeing Maddy Prior and Kathryn Tickel (I think that's her name) at the Birchmere on Tuesday the 23rd, and very likely seeing Mille Drumke at Metro Cafe Saturday the 20th, and less likely though still possibly ani difranco and the rebirth brass band at Wolftrap Sunday the 21st.
