Chris (Williams) and I (Vickie Mapes) will be hosting Katemas in Chicago this year on Saturday the 1st of August. Anytime after 2pm is fine for people to show up. I'm sure it will go on into the wee hours. After years of living in a tiny, cramped, 4 room apartment, we've finally moved to a fairly roomy, 7 room apartment, so we have plenty of space to do a proper bash. It should be fun...there certainly won't be a lack of things to watch, listen to or read! We'll have a video projector and a large screen set up in the living room (which will be air- conditioned). At least 2 other rooms will have TVs and VCRs set up, and 2 rooms will have stereos for either personal (via headphones) or "public" listening of music, Kate or (for the curious) otherwise. I'm assuming that lots of "otherwise" will be consumed. We encourage it! We'll have at least 2 computers set up, with an ISDN connection. If anyone wants to come from a distance and needs a place to crash, let us know. We already have 2 folks coming from afar (Norway, via Cleveland, and Washington, DC) As the date gets nearer, we'll ask folks to e-mail us for the exact address and directions. We're in a fairly easy-to-get to area, close to major streets and public transportation. Looking forward to celebrating Kate's 20th year in the public ear! (cc'd to Ecto, since Ectophiles are warmly invited.) I'll keep an eye out for her name. Vickie np: Helen & the Horns - "Surrey With The Fringe On The Top" (Has anyone heard of this person? I bought a couple of 12" EPs years ago because I liked the look of them. Talk up The Corrs (and Lisa) to all those lurkers (hi!) out there. Don't let Neile, Charley and me have the last word.
