She'll be doing a brief media blitz next week related to her new book "A Night Without Armour" as well as taping a few new shows. Here's the complete (so far) rundown of everything I'm currently aware of. Monday, May 18th: PBS- Charlie Rose Show TAPING. He often tapes several shows daily so scheduling could be last minute. His show is often broadcast the same day, but not always. Check your local listings to be sure. ****************************************************** Tuesday, May 19th: (an extremely busy day!) 11:00 AM EST "The View"- ABC Network Jewel will be a featured guest on this show. Afternoon: "MTV Live" Segments Taping Jewel will be taping 5 poems being read live in the MTV studios. These will air at midnight (we think) on 5 consecutive nights in a row. When the airings will begin has not been determined but I'd guess it would be all the following week. 7:00-8:30PM EST Virgin Megastore, NYC LIVE Poetry Reading & Question & Answers with Jewel. This is being broadcast live via satellite to 13 other Virgin Megastores around the world. Jewel will be reading live from "A Night Without Armour" & then accepting questions live from the audience in NYC as well as from attendees at all the other Virgin Megastores around the world. This will also be filmed by various news networks so expect clips & footage everywhere shortly thereafter. It is open to the public but expect total chaos at the NYC location. Only a limited amount of people can fit in the store. I suggest getting there as early as possible. The other Virgin Megastore broadcasts should be much easier to attend. I do not know which 13 stores are included. Call the one nearest you for that info. ****************************************************** Wednesday, May 20th: CNN "Showbiz Today" Taping Broadcast time unknown VH1 Taping-- Jewel will be taping a new half-hour special to be announced & broadcast at a later date. ****************************************************** Thursday, May 21st: 9:00PM EST ABC Network "Where It's At: Rolling Stone's State of the Union" Rolling Stone celebrates it's 30th anniversary with this two hour special with a selection of today's hottest artists and noted opinion-makers. Jewel is shown performing the unreleased songs "Winter Song" & "Fragile Flame". This performance was taped at Java Joe's on 2/9/98. Theres also interview footage included. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 May 1998 20:47:55 EDT From: Riphug Subject: Merrie Amsterberg update **PLEASE NOTE:Merrie's show this thurs.,5/14 at CBGB's Gallery in NYC has been postponed** It will be rescheduled, I'll keep you posted... These certificates do two very important things: 1) They get you in to the event. 2) You get a pre-signed book. The event is being held just outside the book store and the cafe on the lower level of the Virgin Megastore on Times Square. It is possible to look down on the lower level. For those lucky enough to get these special book certificates, there's an important thing to know. There is absolutely no audio recording, no video taping or cameras allowed in to the event. Do not bring these items with you or you will not be allowed in without getting rid of the equipment somehow. No-one so far knows about these instructions but you EDAs & Ecto people. They will be announced all over fairly soon though, so I wish all good luck who give it a try! Try Brigid Boden then. her self-titled debut last year does a pretty intriguing meld of the two. (no harp though) I find it a little tiresome over the course of an album, but great in the cd shuffle or on sampler tapes.
