Plus, Adrian Belew and Laurie >Anderson are on it, which was why I bought it in the first place. Yeah, _Zoolook_'s a great album. I originally got this on vinyl (!) when I was 16 and deeply interested in instrumental electronic music. It's one of the few albums from that time/genre period I still listen to. Prince even sampled it on his _Black Album_! Now how cool is that? It's too bad Jarre hasn't kept up with the times. His most recent attempts have been mediocre to downright pathetic, like in _Chronologie_ where he both rips off "Gloria" by Laura Branigan and ridiculously overuses a record-scratching sample. Sigh. I hear his giga-concerts are still pretty impressive though. Of course, the best use of sampling from the early 80's is still the very first one, _My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts_ by Eno & Byrne. Well, I for one was rather disappointed with his stadium concert in Helsinki last year. Before the show, there was a lot of hype about how magnificent the light show and all that were supposed to be, but my impression was that he's not kept up in that department either. In the late eighties (when I really was into Jarre) when I saw the Laser Harp and the other neat stuff on TV it was really cool and unique. Now, it was like "Sure it's nice, but it's all been done before". There really wasn't anything innovative in the show to get excited about. Anyway, it was still nice to hear some of those old pieces that I hadn't listened to in a long time. Nowadays, Zoolook is the only Jarre album I listen to at all... I'm tempted to dig the tape up right now, actually. Juha n.p. Before Syd started her career singing she used to wait tables at the now defunct Exterminator Chili. They served up three grades of Chili; Residential, Commercial & Industrial. The Industrial grade brought beads of sweat to my eyelids on many occasions and I mourn it's passing.
