I have a 6'-8' vinyl collection which originated in the early 60's.....all in less than mint condition....(especially the one's that were on the bottom shelves of the book cases when we had a large "house trained" white rabbit that had the run of the house.....we let her chew on the record covers besause then she left the furniture alone.....now I think of the potential value of some of those covers!!) and legal file boxes full of cassettes and empty boxes......never could train myself to put them back together......especially in the car! For years I talked about sorting them all and putting them together....but now I've started just making new j-cards. Some of us were never meant to be organized.....too busy going on the the next thing to do organize stuff.....you should see my closet!!! I missed the show (dammit) but that's *gotta* be Patti Smith's "Dancing Barefoot" -- one of my all-time favorite songs! U2 also recorded it as a B-Side in the Rattle and Hum days. What a fabulous tour, to take 8 people on the road and actually come home with money (well, ok, it was nothing much but to have hotel and food etc...not on one person's visa is like a dream come true) We hope to go down again in early June for the Haight Street Fair and please do look for us. Land of the Blind will release a new single this June, as radio is enjoying OUT OF CHAOS so much and we have so much new work, we just picked our favorite song out of the new ones (it is already being called the tree song, since it is an ode to trees but it's real name is Allah Layoor) NOW SINCE MOST OF YOU ARE IN THE EAST AND MID-WEST, I NEED YOUR HELP!!!We are unsigned and self-booked (that means me, the lead singer calling strange towns and unknown clubs) If you each took one minute and told me one place that ecto bands play in your home town (and phone numbers please...) then we will come and play there and I will certainly comp you an invite! I really need your help. ALSO, if anyone knows about any local music festivals in late Aug and early Sept that also would be much appreciated. ONE or two festivals could pay for our whole gas bill across in two cars. We all talk about our favorite big time artists but remember, someone helped them out along the way. (or maybe I just have not slept with the right people..tee hee) I do appreciate all the help I am getting now! There's an ecto in SF helping us do radio for free, there's an ecto in Seattle trying to get our first album in his local store...etc...I can pay in CDs, in singles, in door comps and undieing gratitude. There is this whole attitude about pretending that you already have it made, don't let them hear you ask for help (don't let them see you sweat attitude). I think that is bullshit, fake and stupid. There is no them and us. No star and fan. Just the music. thank you so much, Cyoakha, Land of the Blind, Portland, Oregon PS We will tour with SF's Thoth, an amazing neo-classical duo! PSS do west coast ecto know that Jane Siberry will play with Bruce Cockburn for $19 at the Britt Festival in Ashland this summer? You will be very close to the stage in the lawn area for $19! 3439 NE Sandy Blvd., Suite 266 Portland, Oregon USA (503) 321-5093 email lanblind@teleport.com http://www.teleport.com/~lanblind/ Distributed through: "Out of Chaos"-- Burnside Distribution "One Eye"-- Rainforest Records ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V4 #121 **************************
