This is making me laugh, because I've felt opposite most of the opinions expressed so far, in both the "hot" and "cold" porridge categories. I've only seen Paula Cole once, opening for Sarah on the Fumbling Tour, and I thought she was incredible. (Maybe she works better from the first row of the balcony?) And I thought the Sugarcubes were brilliant when I saw their first US show. Though the only Bjork concert I saw, on Post, was boring from beginning to end (with the exception of It's Oh So Quiet). There was prancing and goofing, but I didn't find it annoying, though it didn't help liven up a surprisingly leaden performance. And I thought Heather Nova's concert (oddly enough, also her first US show, and also at the old 9:30 Club) was completely riveting. She seemed really shy, but not lacking in personality. I'd love to see her again. And despite the "overplaying" of Paula Cole and Loreena's song, I still have yet to hear either one. Weird. Michelle Shocked was fantastic earlier this evening. Not a surprise, since I"ve only seen her put on exceptional shows. More details at an earlier time (though probably NOT after her concert tomorrow.) She basically arrived (late), sang the songs, and left. The drummer seemed to be the only person on the stage actually caring about what he was playing, the others (Björk included) showed about the level of enthusiasm for their work of a civil servant on late Friday afternoon. Luckily Värttinä was the opening act, otherwise the concert would have been total waste of money. - -- Markku Kolkka mk59200@cc.tut.fi ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 4 Mar 1998 12:55:06 EST From: Riphug Subject: Attention New England People! I don't have tickets yet, though. My girlfriend and I were thinking of driving up on Saturday and trying to buy tickets from someone outside of the venue. Do you have information on how to get there or any possible leads on tickets? I checked with San Jose Box Office (an overpriced ticket reseller). They told me they could get me tickets at about $300 apiece. I love Sarah's music, but there isn't anyone that I would pay $300 to hear. - -Rodney - ------------------------------------------------------------------- Rodney Somerstein | Meditation... it's not what you think. rodneys@bayarea.net | | Outside of a dog, a man's best friend | is a book.
