I've checked Veda's web site and A&B Sound, but no mention of this CD. The obvious question...how do I get my hands on it!!! Great year in music. Once again I've discovered some artists that have been around for some time. Keeps me thinking of all the ones I'm missing...oh well, in time. Discovery of the year: Dalbello I don't really have a top 10 for the year but here are my favorites in random order. Dalbello - Whore, She, whoformansays Veda Hille - Spine Sandra Lockwood - Shell Ani D. - Living in a Clip Kate Bush - HoL remaster Bjork - Homogenic On order: Milla Drumke - Illinois Veda Hille - Path of Body Ingrid Karklins - Red Hand All through snail mail... :-( I'd like to take this opportunity (my once a year post) to thank Neile and all those involved with Ectophiles Guide. What an invaluable resource. Through the guide I was able to find out about Dalbello, Veda Hille, Sandra Lockwood, Milla Drumke, & Ingrid Karklins. Many thanks to all...!!!! Currently my favorite song is "Wolf at the Door" from Patty Larkin's latest. Kind of Ani meets Joni. On the whole the CD is hit and miss, but it's fairly new to me...who knows how I'll feel about it next week. Oh yea, Jane is on it! Until next year, Happy New Year, take care and thanks for letting me drop by. If you're impatient & want to read about Blue Apples without reading about the other Prime artists, the direct URL to the Prime page for Vicky/Blue Apples is at: http://www.primecd.com/vicky.htm Regards, | Support Independent Music! I find them to be darling ear candy. Maybe I yearn for some of the 60's pop that you grew up on. Only from newer bands. I find them to be deeper but only on more and more listens. Not the deepest bands ever, but nice for one of those times when I need a little cheering up. I have only heard Holly's Sour Pie (thanks Dan!) but I am sort of mixed on it. I thought it was struggling to shock. Simply for the sake of shocking. It has a good sound, but some of it seemed sort of silly. Granted that I haven;t given it many more listens. But I did have it on random (with Happy :-) this summer and was enjoying it as background music. Sooo....it must have a decent sound. I must give it a little more. And maybe check out Stuff too. I left out on my list: Tanya Donnelly-Lovesongs for Underdogs: I haven;t delved deeply yet, but on first listen it didn;t grab me the way Belly or the Muses do. More listens. Can I borrow a few more ears so I can fit all this in the limited time I have? A question: what is the longest you have kept a CD you have bought without listening to it? I have had two Velocity Girl CD's that I bought used over a year ago that I still haven;t listened to. Also a Blake Babies bought at the same time. And it took me 6 months to listen to Ani's NAPG after I bought it. And see someone about clearing out the dregs of that catholic upbringing. It could cause you serious anguish in the future. The >obvious question...how do I get my hands on it!!! Well, it's not officially released yet. I got my copy with many thanks to meth and woj who got it at one of her concerts in NYC. I am planning, however, to be at Veda's official release concert for the disc in Vancouver (thanks to ecto lurker Art Liestman, who first played Veda for us and who kindly gets us tickets for these things) on January 18th. I'd be happy to pick the disc up for anyone who wants one and doesn't want to wait to order it from Veda or A&B Sound. Let me know if you want it. And Wayne, thanks for the appreciation of The Ectophiles' Guide--it's good to know that it's providing a service for people out there. That's why we're all putting the work into it. That and it is kinda fun. Anyone else who wants to volunteer to help compile entries for the guide (basically filling info from a template and organizing comments from my vast & messy archive), just let me know. - --Neile - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Neile Graham ..... http://www.sff.net/people/neile ..... neile@sff.net The Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music .... http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V4 #6 ************************
