My copy of 'Child' arrived here last week, having crossed the Atlantic. However, I have previously had looong delays with mail-order stuff. After eight weeks my copy of 'Teenager' hadn't arrived, so Sheeba sent me another, which took a couple of days to reach me. Next day, the original arrived... the postmark showed that the delay was in the mail, and not due to Sheeba. My guess is that Jeff's CD has drawn a losing ticket in the mail delivery lottery. jac ============================================================================== James A. THANKS AGAIN!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Nov 97 14:17:32 +0100 From: Rolf.Peukert@theoinf.tu-ilmenau.de (Rolf Peukert) Subject: Soraya anyone? Hi, has anyone heard of a singer named Soraya? She has one album out, well, actually two, there's an English ("On Nights Like This") and a Spanish ("en esta noche") version of it. She's of colombian origin, plays acoustic guitar and mandolin and has a wonderful voice that I can't compare to anyone I know (maybe Natalie Merchant with a pinch of Sarah McLachlan). I "discovered" her on a TV broadcast of the SWF3 (a south west german radio station) "NewPop" festival (pix and a german review at http://www.swf3.de/club/termine/NewPop97/soraya_magic.htm ). Last weekend I finally found and bought the Spanish album (although my Spanish is rather bad, I just like the sound of it). I also found Holly Cole's "Dark Dear Heart" (at Saturn, Cologne, filed under 'Jazz'), spent some time at the listening station and just had to buy it. ciao, Rolf ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Nov 1997 15:09:55 +0100 (MET) From: yngveh@mo.himolde.no Subject: Re: Blackout - first time in music history? > > Devo did a song or two for _Neuromancer_ in the early 80s. _Fallout_ (which > just came out) contains a recording of _Maybe_ by the Ink Spots. > _Carmageddon_ has a musical soundtrack by Fear Factory. _Quake_'s sountrack > is all original stuff by Nine Inch Nails. _Quarantine_, a forgettable > Doom-clone-on-taxi-wheels, contains an excellent 13-track sampler of > Australian independent bands (said sampler is why I still own my original > copy of the game, and why I have another copy). That these artists have contributed songs to computer games are completly ok, but their music is not the main theme of the games. At least not the ones I've played from the ones your are listing. So I guess what they mean when they say the first time in history is that the game is based around the Velvet Belly songs. That is what I've heard ....
