First they dump Surfacing on us, and then $50 tickets? Get real, Sarah. - -jeff ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Sep 1997 22:59:46 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Re: Sarah tour dates Hi! See, I never bothered to find out how much tickets were going to cost once I heard that Sarah would be playing the Patriot Center. That's a friggin' BASKETBALL ARENA, for whomever's sake! Why the hell would I want to see Sarah somewhere like that? Oh, sure, I knew this was coming; it wouldn't always be Gaston Hall, or Lisner, (still kicking myself for not seeing her at the Lansburgh, or even better, at the old 9:30 club, where I would have been standing, oh, say, 3 feet from her). I had decided not to bother even trying to get tickets before I realized I'd be out of town when Sarah played DC. Today I was sitting in a friend's car, listening to Melissa Ferrick's "I Am Done," getting ready to do a kite ballet demo at a local air show, and after I had listened to my track, the friend popped in a disc and said, "What do you think about me flying to this?" I had to ask who it was, and was appalled when he said, "Sarah." Guess that's how bad _Surfacing_ is...I haven't listened to it since the week I bought it. (on a more positive note, the demo went extremely well and I had a number of people come up afteward and ask what the music to which I'd been flying was! Atlantic just never understood her, did they? idjits) jeff ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Sep 1997 01:46:17 -0400 (EDT) From: Pencil-Neck Geek Subject: Re: Sarah tour dates On Sun, 14 Sep 1997, Jeffrey C. That is pretty horrible. Fortunatly for me, in the SF area, the place she's playing is apparently pretty decent, and not too big. And teh ticket prices aren't /that/ bad, somewhere around $35 if I recall... Of course, prior to now, every time Sarah has come through town I've been out of town, so maybe I'm just glad to be able to see her finially. :) > Why the hell would I want to see Sarah somewhere like that? Because she's good? :) > Guess that's how bad _Surfacing_ is...I haven't listened to it since the > week I bought it. Hrm. Everyone on Ecto seems to really dislike _Surfacing_, which is wierd, because Ectophiles usually have really good taste. I like _Surfacing_ - a lot. As much as Sarah's other cds. Or maybe I've just missed all the positive reviews. :) Anyway, if you haven't listened to it since the week you bought it, how can you know it's "that bad"? I dunno about you, but some of my favorite albums took a lot more than a week to grow on me. jcb. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Sep 1997 02:23:24 -0400 (EDT) From: Jason Subject: Re: Sarah tour dates On Sun, 14 Sep 1997, Pencil-Neck Geek wrote: > Anyway, if you haven't listened to it since the week you bought it, how > can you know it's "that bad"? That's a very good phrase you picked out....grow on me...after all, listening to Surfacing is almost as exciting as watching moss grow...
