Has anyone heard this? Is this the first time she's sprung up since the last (second?) Hugo Largo album? Finally, any idea if she is touring with Moby, who will be in both Baltimore and Washington this week As a weird aside, I had mentioned the presence of thousands of cops on the opposite end of the mall during the aborted Cranberries show. They were there for National Police Officers Week, and a special presentation from El Presidente to honor officers killed in the line of duty. That evening, they went on a drunken rampage at the Hyatt, pulling fire alarms, groping and mooning people, and sliding naked down the escalators. I guess it was a good thing they didn't call these representatives of the nation's police forces over to the Cranberries show. Maybe they would have joined in on the moshing to Linger. You have 2/3 of her output that I know of. Her second album, "Bohemia," is the one you're missing. It was produced by Steve Kilbey, who also produced Margot Smith. Characteristic Kilbey sound. Speaking of Mae Moore I caught the first video off "Dragonfly" on MuchMusic last night while at my parents' place, housesitting again. I watched a little teevee, having mowed the lawn, and found it a really weird experience as usual. (the teevee, not the lawn. Not that lawns aren't patently useless and weird, as they are, but I'm more used to lawns) I feel sometimes that teevee is this strange window into a parallel universe. One I'm supposed to live in but don't want to, not having one of the suckers. The American stations seemed to show nothing but endless ranks of expert talking heads speculating knowledgeably about DNA statistics related to bloodstained socks, whereas the Canadian stations make absolutely no mention of the case whatsoever - they're all talking about the even more horrifying Paul Bernardo trial. And having clamoured for three years to have the court publication bans overturned the media now finds itself in the embarrassing position of sort of censoring itself, as the case is so utterly appalling. :P Anyway, I saw the Mae Moore video, which may be of some interest to Ectophiles. Oddly, her makeup and the multihued lighting and the closeup camera shots the director used make her face look awfully similar to Happy's face on the cover of BTC. Probably a coincidence. Ms. Moore was also wearing her hair in pigtails and severe bangs... didn't Meth start a thread a while back about Happy and Sarah McLachlan in pigtails? I also caught the Jill Sobule video that people have been discussing of late. Quite cute. Lots of fun touches - like having her husband played by that repellent beefy blonde guy... whatshisname. Anyway, it was fun but I can see how it'd horrify Republicans. "I Kissed a Girl?" Poppy Godless lesbian propaganda! :) - Neil K. - -- Neil K.
