In my frequent contact with the front office, I pass on to Susanne tidbits from ecto which I think may be of interest to her, and she sometimes asks me to ask y'all to help out in some way. Today she'd like some help from us all. In AG's effort to make RhodeSongs universally available, she is asking all of us to check every record store we can for the disc. If you find any store anywhere that doesn't have it, please send me the name of the store, its phone number, and if possible, the address and a person to contact. AG will do the rest. If you don't want to ferret out the store buyer's name it's OK; the most important thing is the name of the store and its phone number (don't forget the area code!). I guess this only applies to ectophiles in the USA at present; sorry to the rest of you, and I hope AG will soon be a presence in your country! Speaking of which, Anthony - I rattled Susanne's cage about Mushroom, so I hope things get moving again! Keep me informed! Thanks to everyone in advance for this. You might want to write me privately so as not to clog up ecto. Feel free to use Deepspace or, if you find that prone to bounces (so far so good lately, though!), you can also reach me at r.lovejoy1@genie.geis.com - my home away from home, where the digests are truncated if present at all! So send in those cards and letters and together we'll get Happy so distributed she'll get disoriented! Um, well, maybe not that! No go forth and scour your neighborhoods, your Mom and Pop stores, anywhere they sell recorded music, and report all non-compliers to the distribution police! Er, that doesn't sound right... Aw, just let us know where RhodeSongs isn't! Thanks, Bob the aurally gratified ======================================================================== Date: Thu, 30 Sep 1993 13:22:26 +1000 (AEST) From: anthony@xymox.apana.org.au (Anthony Horan) Subject: The perils of power outages Hi Ectopersons; Well, I've just recovered most of what was on my hard disk after a somewhat unexpected power blackout last night, which occurred (a) while I was taping "Picket Fences" (grrrr!) and (b) while my mail program was in the middle of writing a file to the hard disc. (GRRRRR!). It's taken me an eternity to get this thing back into working order, but it seems to be OK now. I lost a few files, but no mail or news. Phew. So anyway, now that all this is out of the way I can get back to replying to my increasingly bulging mailbox (sorry for the delay, everyone). Neile Graham sez: >I had only heard _Bell Blue Knoll_ and a couple of others from that era >and was singularly unimpressed, bbk was a step in a new direction for the twins following _victorialand_. they softened the edges and liz frazier started to lose her voice's warbles (one of the endearing quaities of early twindom, imho). that said, bbk also contained the utterly brilliant "carolyn's fingers" which has the questionable honor of being one of three songs that induced religious reactions in my person (the other two being KaTe's "hello earth" and suzanne vega's "the queen and the soldier"). well, that's it. no new stuff for now. sigh. +woj ======================================================================== Date: Thu, 30 Sep 93 2:44:19 EDT From: WretchAwry Subject: [glarri@armltd.co.uk (Guy Larri): I met Tori+What Tori, Happy is Date: Tue, 28 Sep 93 12:27:40 BST From: glarri@armltd.co.uk (Guy Larri) I moved to Cambridge, England from Australia earlier this year, and I'm interested to know what Tori stuff, Happy Rhodes stuff, etc, is around in the stores in the UK, and where. What CD Singles are (or at least have been recently) available in the UK and any good places to buy them (either near Cambridge or in London) Is there anyone in the UK who can supply me with a dub of Why Kant Tori Read ? Is there anywhere in the UK I can buy Happy Rhodes music (just trying to avoid dealing with currency conversion between here and the USA). [Then again, if Aural Gratification accept credit cards it might be easy anyway] cheers, Guy PS: Saw Tori do a small pub gig in Sydney, Australia, about 18 months ago, when almost no one in Australia had heard of her (I'd read of her on gaffa) - just Tori and a baby grand.
