I was lucky enough to be at Zellerbach to get them, though. I got there about 9:30, and there was already about 30-40 people ahead of me. "Ah, no biggie, I'll still get pretty good seats," I thought to myself. Well, I finally got up to the ticket window, and the best I could get was row Z! And for some reason, the computer wouldn't recogniize student discounts, so I had to pay $19.50 instead of $17.50. Argh! Angelos was in line with me, and he got about the same seating. I think a bunch of big-wigs probably procured the prime seating before the tix went on sale... at least I'll know who I can sneer at at the show; they'll be sitting up front center where *I* should be sitting.. grrrrrrr.. Well, not really, but it could have been her. French/German channel ARTE aired a special about New Age on yesterdays "Megamix" program. A main feature in it was about Andreas Vollenweider. This name might not ring a bell with newer Ectophiles. About a year ago, he flew Happy to Zuerich to talk with her because he wanted her to sing for him on a new project (world tour?). Happy rejected this offer because it would have put her own career on hold during quite a while. In "Megamix" he now told that he has recorded real songs for the first time. Most of his music has been instrumental, sometimes with the addition of voices, but now he does songs with lyrics. They played a bit of that, and that woman on acoustic guitar and singing could have been Happy! It actually sounded very good, and I can imagine how Happys voice would fit into this music. European Ectophiles who would like to see that: it will be repeated on Wednesday (1700-1755). PS: Don't miss Dead Can Dance if they come near you!!! Great concert!!! More about it later. Apparently there was a minor injury - she caught her hand in a door and smooshed a finger (ouch!), but she and Kevin managed to perform "Ashes to Ashes", then a new one for the acoustic duo, "Closer". During "Closer", she forgot the words for a second but was totally cool about it. It was a fantastic arrangement and she and Kevin pulled it off pretty well. She was only on for about ten minutes. Tape will be sent to Doug this week. Of course, Susanne didn't make it here to pick up all the info she'd asked for. Oh well, we'll get that in the mail too! I feel sorry for Philadelphia sports fans. The Eagles are so plagued by injuries, and the Phillies are - well, never mind. Today was a crisp and beautiful fall day. More and more new ectophiles! I can barely keep up anymore! Welcome, and enjoy the music. I came here a raving Happy fan, and now I've been exposed to a wealth of wonderful music from other outofthemainstream artists. My next CD should be Dead Can Dance's Labyrinth, but then again I want the new Jane Siberry too... Anyway, if you don't have them already, pick up all the Happy albums - slowly, preferably one at a time! As is often mentioned on this list, Happy's music is so complex that it's best to take in one album at a time! Enjoy, everybody! Miracles happen. Wouldn't it be ectosynchronictic if Philadelphia and Chicago were in the World Series? That would be the two major cities where Happy has her largest followings and greatest airplay! It's for U.S. and Canadian Ectophiles only, I believe, though I don't know much (read "nothing") about telecommunications satellite technology. Ashley is going to be the second of four guest artists in a series of interactive satellite telecasts from the RPI campus this academic year. The broadcasts will be available to anyone who has a K-U band downlink, and all the studio here asks of recipients is, as far as I understand, that they tell the studio that they're pulling it down, theat they open the viewing to people at their site, and that they have a telephone line that viewers can use to call the artists. Calls to the artists will become part of the performances and will go out, either as they came in, or with extra electronic enhancement. The first broadcast in the series (called "In a Word, With Technology") will be Oct. 27, starting at 7 p.m. Eastern Time, with the featured artists Constance DeJong, Tony Oursler, and Stephen Vitiello. The second will be Ashley, November 17. for his show, they're trying to establish links that will allow for interactive MIDI. They've been startled by the response to a flyer sent out a few weeks ago, and have even found two public-access cable channels that are going to pick it up (in Sacramento and in Dallas). The broadcasts will be 7-8:30 p.m. EST on G-Star 1, transponder 3 horizontal, if that means anything to y'all. alanm ======================================================================== The ecto archives are on hardees.rutgers.edu in ~ftp/pub/hr.
