Fall is truly a happening time for Nettwerk as we have a few tricks up our sleeve. As computers are becoming the newest means of communicating all over the world, we are making it possible for you to become a part of our sub-culture. If you have a computer and a modem, you can communicate to us through e-mail. We will put your name on our list and will answer any of those questions that have been gnawing away at your brain. By November we will have our own BBS (Bulletin Board System) in which you will be able to access lots of information on Nettwerk groups as well as various other goodies. More details to follow. Here's our e.mail address: nettwerk@mindlink.bc.ca or nettwerk@aol.com By the time the BBS is up, we will have a toll-free number for ordering Nettwerk stuff through the BBS. This number will only operate when placing an order. We will be posting our BBS number as of mid-October or you can give us a call at Nettwerk. The Sarah McLachlan single 'Possession' is now available at retail outlets across Canada with the album 'Fumbling Towards Ecstasy' to follow on October 22nd. The rest of the world will be releasing the album in January. Sarah and Ginger (former Grapes of Wrath) will be doing a cross-Canada tour starting at the tail end of October. For those of you awaiting something new from Ginger you can rest assured that a single will be available October 29 in Canada. Through mail order you can now purchase Ginger Swirly Logo T-shirts and we will also have many other fine items available from Sarah McLachlan this fall. Ya know there's really nothing else that comes to mind right now so until next time, Sayonara. Jennifer Rose Chronicles Sounding Almost Heavenly Hailing from Vancouver, B.C., the Rose Chronicles formed in the spring of '92. Steve and Richard met through previous band affiliations while Kristy and Judd both joined Richard and Steve through advertising and fate. After composing 8 songs together and solidifying live performances, the band began the daunting process of trying to put together a demo tape to attract the attention of labels. Nettwerk's interest was aroused already and the need for a demo-tape became unnecessary. Nettwerk signed the band in December of '92. 'Dead and Gone to Heaven' is their debut EP and is internationally available now, with 'Shiver', the full length album, available Jan. 7. The Rose Chronicles sound is very elusive, volatile, creative and aggressive without being harsh. The instrumentation, on the other hand, consists of ethereal vocals & a pulsating rhythm section that encourages massive movement and noisy guitars. Is it that time again? Christo quotes Holly: > > I play the stereo. :) > > > *ROFL* :) > I don't know why I found this so funny. I was on the floor too (*wonderful* Holly!) but I kept forgetting to go back to it and reply. Thanks for giving me another chance, Christo! Good idea about the stereo symphony, I can imagine it now. Diamanda Galas vs. Julee Cruise vs. Victoria Williams vs. Kate Bush vs. ...wait, I've always wanted to hear a Kate/Happy/Jane/Tori collaboration, this would be a great way to do it! (I think I'll put my mixer board to non-SiG use..."The Pool," "Night Scented Stock," "Summer," and "Map I") Other cool collaborations would be Virginia Astley, Julee Cruise, Allison Shaw (of the Cranes) and Anneli Drecker (of Bel Canto.) Diamanda Galas, Lene Lovich, Meredith Monk and Yma Sumac. Liz from the Cocteau Twins, Enya, Lynn Canfield (from Area and Moon Seven Times) and Suzanne Perry (from Love Spirals Downward.) Lisa Germano and Susan Voelz as a duo, then as violin players with Iva Bittova and Anna Palm (and maybe Nadja Salerno Sonnenerg who is a classiccal violinist. I've met her once and got her autograph but she plays in Orchestra Hall which is too expensive for our poccketbooks. I can't believe, and I hate to admit, that I've lived in Chicago for over 3 years and haven't seen the Chicago Symphony Orchestra :-( but the performanecs really are very expensive and are usually sold out anyway. The CSO plays free in Grant Park every now and then, but we're not much for crowds, heat and misquitos. Why does my spelling of Misquitos look wrong? miscquitos, missquitos-not to be confused with misspuntablanca or misschatelaine-never mind, I know y'all will forgive me, misquitos it will stay. I've seen them on TV! The CSO, not misquitos, though the Discovery Channel had a nature show on once and they showed a misquito sucking blood from a pig. Ugh! Poor pig, can't scratch. Nadia is really nice! She'd be perfect to play with Lisa, Susan (who was violin player for Poi Dog Pondering), Iva and Anna.) A stereo symphony. What a wonderful idea! > > Seriously, I don't play any instruments, but I sing in a low alto. > > > I envy singers. I like to think I can sing, then everyone just > tells me to shutup :). I'd never tell you to shut up...well, unless you're doing an impression of Ethel Merman. I can't handle Ethel. I used to love to sing in the car, with the stereo or Walkman going. If I was alone, I'd belt out at the top of my lungs and shake around and bounce around on my seat. I always wondered if anyone saw me and thought "spazz attack" especially when I sang along with "Get Out Of My House" or Diamanda. The car is a great place to find out if you can scream. I found out that I can't scream. I tried many, many times and I can't. I can yell though, ("give them watermelon when they start yellin'") which is better than nothing. Cars are cool sometimes, and sometimes I miss not having a car, though I don't miss the payments and insurance and city stickers and gasoline and tune ups and oil changes and brake jobs and flat tires and fender benders and parking roulette and pollution and rush hours and crazy drivers and stress and such things. Yeah, give the the "L" and busses and cabs and friends anyday. (Though it would be nice to borrow or rent a car every now and then.) Who: Vickie What: nothing really (Phillip, you're not alone) though in Junior High I played flute, clarinet and French Horn in Band. I probably couldn't get "Mary Had A Little Lamb" out of any one of them. I used to sing in the school choir and in a quartet, but somewhere along the way I lost my voice and now I can't carry a tune. I play a mean Sakamoto Box though! (Private joke, unless Kiri wants to tell the story) I play the stereo too, and with my cats (they meow on cue) Vickie ======================================================================== Date: Tue, 5 Oct 93 23:22:20 EDT From: WretchAwry Subject: Re: a slow day NealC writes: > road, Heidi Berry is back in LA next saturday, opening for Nicolette Larson. > (Heidi will be in San Diego tomorrow, I'm sorry I didn't catch this sooner.
