Would some kind soul please post them to "alt.binaries.pictures" ? I found a couple of neat Dead Can Dance gifs there recently. There are other Happy gifs ? I would urge you to post them on alt.binaries.pictures rather than sending them in the mail. They will reach more people and besides I don't want my mbox to explode!! If you can't post them, perhaps some other kind soul will ? I'd offer to do it myself but I can't. :( Thanks again!! - Vish PS: How about those shower curtains ? :) :) ======================================================================== From: foster@magnum.convex.com (Harry Foster) Subject: Re: GIFS in the mail Date: Wed, 30 Oct 91 22:16:29 CST Vishal writes: > > Thanks Chip, for the WARPAINT gif. Hope they help when making up compilation tapes. I'm just about ready to make mine up - favourite songs from the 1st4 are shaping up to be "If So", "Ecto", "The Chase", "The Revelation", "The First to Cry", "Poetic Justice" etc etc ... I *love* these songs!! I'm going to send "If So" to my ex-girlfriend, as it's really appropriate. :( BTW, there is an error in the lyrics sheets for "Ecto". If you take out the question mark from the first line, the lyrics make more sense. ie: Should I die, Don't take time to wonder: "Is she near? Or are her brains asunder?" This spirit must exist And move on to better things It's a wonderful companion piece to "Watching you without me", probably my favourite-ever Kate song. "Poetic Justice" had me laughing out loud when I heard the words. The lines I've now got in my signature are particularly suitable for a UseNET signature, I thought. Vickie, I do know of the guy here at Curtin whose r.m.misc post you pointed out. I'll mail him and see if I can Happefy him ;-) Greg, I liked your translation! I think it is a pun, actually, which comes out to mean something like "Tie the frog elbow left by the tower wurst." (My mother is German, and that's what she said.) I like Jeanne's poetry, too... keep it coming. By coincidence, a small poem on Happy's music occurred to me last night as I was falling asleep. I quickly wrote it down and promptly dropped off. I can't remember it all at the moment, surrounded by people and machines and whatnot, but I ought to include it in a future post. Oh, and Katie said to "...say hi to everyone for me." Hi, everyone. Well, that's about it. I tried showing it to a couple of people at work, where we are in the process of translating a computer game into, surprise, German. I looked up all the words in the dictionary and still couldn't make it out; I'm rather weak on German vocabulary and even weaker on grammar (except for knowing which articles go with which noun genders). The German native was especially confused, but I was trying to show it to her in my tiny HP-48 display. :-) Hey, Klaus, go out and buy a copy of _Red Baron_ there in Deutschland. I was Hauptprogrammierer for the deutsche Ausgabe. My name's in the credits, if you wait long enough. _Heart of China_ in Deutsche is also on its way there. ======================================================================== Date: Wed, 30 Oct 91 22:06 CST From: vickie@chinet.chi.il.us (Vickie Ann Mapes) Subject: ooops I sent Jessica an e-mail message that appeared in ecto, sorry. I got a letter from Klaus and he said he would be away from the net until next Monday. I assume, since Claudia is leaving for Boston on Sunday, he just took a few days off to spend with her. That's so sweet. Anyway, we won't know the correct translation until Monday at the earliest. Personally, I love Greg's! It makes perfect sense to me (I was having an intense flashback at the moment, but I don't think that had anything to do with it) and should darn well be on the next printout that H&K send out :-) Along with Harry's fine, fine quote, of course.
