Crash & Burn Philly is Phine cassettes and CDs about cassette->cd and speaking of Imago ======================================================================== Date: Thu, 10 Oct 91 02:54:22 EDT From: jessica@cs.rutgers.edu Subject: digest available. Hiya! I've got the digest set up - John Relph sent me a great little digest thingy -it's just what i was looking for - all I have to do is type "issue" once/day. It took some time to make it look just how i wanted, but that's fine, i only had to do it once :) in any case, you can either get the digest or the regular mail. Just let me know if you'd like me to move you to the digest, otherwise you'll keep getting the regular mail as though nothing has changed :) And of course, feel free to get both, if you want! jessica ======================================================================== Date: Thu, 10 Oct 91 02:52 CDT From: katefans@chinet.chi.il.us (Chris n Vickie) Subject: Crash & Burn Vickie here. Martin, it's catching! We just had a crash and burn too. I lost over 20 messages, most of it seemed to be from Ecto. I hadn't had a chance to really read it, and it wasn't saved yet. It's not my night! I saw that some of the posts were mine that finally showed up, and other bits and pieces that popped out were: talk about rec.music.cd, Brian's needing music suggestions & a nice thank you from Harry. Gone, every single one. Say, would someone be kind enough to send me the last couple days of Ecto, pretty please with sugar on top? Mark Semich, I saw that you wanted to be included in the Ecto SIG, but you'll have to re-send me your address. Jeanne, I answered your letter, but forgot to tell you that you already included postage, so don't send any more. Thanks... Happy had some excellent news tonight. "Feed The Fire" has just been declared the #1 most requested song on WXPN for the *year*!!! I'm speechless. I'm totally speechless. Should I Laugh Or Should I Cry Dept.: I didn't know about this in advance, it was a very spur of the moment thing, but Happy called WXPN yesterday (Tuesday) at approx 5:20 and was put on the air and interviewed! I don't know whether to put a smiley face or a sad face. Here, here's both :-) :-( The interview was very short and only a few questions were asked. Happy did talk a bit about supporting WXPN, and contributing to the pledge drive. Happy said the tour would start in December and the interviewer asked if she would be coming to Philly. Oh yeah... Tower Records in Philly lists Warpaint at #14 in their Top 25 best-seller list! H&K just ordered 2000 more Warpaint CDs. They have sold slightly over 2000 copies already. That's more CDs than the new record label Imago have sold and they have 3 groups on their roster. Other places in Philly that carry Warpaint: 3rd St. Jazz Tower Chestnut Hill Spruce Street Records outlying: Sam Goody's in King of Prussia Mad's in Ardmore Whew! I'm limp... Vickie katefans@chinet.chi.il.us ps: Thanks for all the great response in rec.music.cd! It's great to see that Subject Line pop up like it has been doing. ======================================================================== Date: Thu, 10 Oct 91 09:57:14 -0700 From: drk@leland.stanford.edu (David Koehler) Subject: cassettes and CDs I've been holding off getting Happy's pre-Warpaint albums because they are not available on CD. When Happy gets a record deal (and she will, right?) is there any possibility that the old albums will be released on CD? With the success of _Warpaint_ might Happy re-release these albums on CD herself? Although her cassettes are Dolby, etc. I don't find the cassette format to be very convenient. David ======================================================================== Date: Thu, 10 Oct 91 13:07:15 EDT From: jessica@cs.rutgers.edu Subject: about cassette->cd David, Happy plans to put the first 4 on CD even if she *doesn't* get a record contract - it's not her highest priority, she's rather work on the new album and the tour than anything else right now, and it's not an entirely inexpensive endeavour, but she *definitely* plans to put them on CD - most likely with additional previously un-released tracks, too :) jessica ======================================================================== Date: Thu, 10 Oct 91 12:32:49 EDT From: kIrI tHe MyStIcAl OnE Subject: and speaking of Imago i have a cd single of one of their bands called Baby Animals from Australia. I don't like it.... too bad they don't sign real talent like Happy :) kIrI hargieka@clutx.clarkson.edu ======================================================================== To join ecto, please send electronic mail to the following address: ecto-request@athos.rutgers.edu To have your thoughts included in the next issue, send mail to: ecto@athos.rutgers.edu To subscribe to "Ecto", the printed fanzine, send $8 to: Ecto PO Box 11291 New Brunswick, NJ 08906 Ecto is issued 8 times/year, and will include photos and as much material from non-net members as we can get!
