As it seems, small parcels do still exist, big letters have really gone down in pricing, only medium sized are much more expensive than before. Small parcels are not even (yet) much more expensive than before, but there's a footnote about small parcels and bigger packages that says that they are working on a new pricing and product concept for international freight services. Sounds like 'We do not yet know how much more expensive it will get', since that's also what they did with the letters. Grmpf, not as big and loud as before, but still Grmpf. BTW: Postdienst (the part of the former Bundespost that does mail) actually has an excellent PR manager... They sell their innovations (new ZIP codes that will cost the Post itself about 400 million DM and much much more for the German industry, new letter format concept that make not-absolute-standard letters much more expensive) as "We make it easier for you, so it's good". Our office got a sheet of paper about the new ZIP codes we now have. We actually have two. One for the town, and another one for our P.O. box in that very same town. They also say "Now you have two ZIP codes. It's easier for you." Somehow I find this ridiculous. We even have it on Laserdisc. The lead character reminds me so much of Jane Siberry in looks, and me in demeanor (sometimes. I can type better than she can and she's a better photog- rapher than I am.) and I *swear* that that's Jane singing "lalalas" in the dream sequence. The music was produced by John Switzer, and some of Jane's old band performs some of the music. The voices could also be either Anne Bourne or Rebecca Jenkins too. I'll have to watch the credits again extra carefully next time we watch it. (Speaking of movies, we went to see _Dave_ and _This Boy's Life_ on Friday night. Very good, both of them.) > >Re: bisexuality - > > > I must admit I do have a strong preference for > >all things female, > > A hearty assent (not a macho catchphrase) I adore women. Mitch, you need to shorten your lines again. I wish I understood what you just said up there, but since I didn't have a "normal" childhood, and didn't develop a "self" in any sort of normal fashion, I suppose I'm not truly "human." It very well could have been the song "The Sensual World" because Kate sings a line "the annals of desire rewrite the speech" (or something like that. I'm too lazy to go look it up.) Read the lyrics and listen to the song and let us know if it's the one. The Trio Bulgarka don't sing in that song though, so maybe not. > BTW, _Flirting_ is a sequal to the Australian film _The Year My Voice Broke_. > It's about a teen at a boarding school in the 60s who gets into a relationship > with a Ugandan girl at the school, and the various humorous ups and downs of > their relationship. With a suprising (to me) performance of a suprising (to me) character played by Nicole Kidman. I do believe that it's the first and only thing I've ever seen her in. I refuse to pay to see Tom Cruise movies, and I've just never caught anything else she's done on cable. I know that she was a big star in Australia before meeting Mr. Scientology Man. (it's absolutely none of my business, but I always wonder if *she* got him into Scientology, or if he was one or became one after they met and he got her into it. I wonder because I won't *knowingly* pay to see anything with a Scientologist in it who's likely to get a percentage of the gross. No way do I want to put money into that dangerous, slimy cult's pockets. Can you tell? I *HATE* Scientology!) But, that has nothing to do with Flirting, which was a wonderful movie indeed. > > Mitch Pravatiner > Big Kahuna of Pencil-Neck Geeks* :-) I read it wrong the first time. It's *very* easy for us to forget that *money* is a major consideration in anything they do. They've already got bank loans coming out the yingyang. You didn't call me d*mb f*ck or anything :-) But to get back to the point, Vickie says: >It's *very* easy for us to forget that *money* is a major consideration >in anything they do. Correct me if I am wrong, but I assume that they paid out of their own pockets for the trip to Detroit, right? Well, they could drive to Boston from Woodstock, thus covering the expenses of the limited promo release, and I am sure that if they tried, some radio stations would be talked into having a live interview/performance. Heck, if they are willing to come here, I will drop my thesis writing and walk to WMBR and ask them if they are interested. Plus, there is no cost whatsoever for the instore live performances, and HMV has a special area for that and Tower arranges a small stage thingy (Arson Garden played an acoustic set there, which was awesome). I still think they're intimidated by the arrogant music director of WFNX, but they shouldn't give up, not now with Equipoise being as awesome as it is, and with Bilboard supporting them the way it has. Which also reminds me. Have they sent Equipoises to Rolling Stone, PULSE!, Spin and other music magazines like Option, Alternative Press? A review in one of those magazines would reach a larger audience. How about this year, instead of a HBP tape, we in ecto give Happy an ad in ove of the above magazines as a birthday present? Think about it! All we need is someone to put the ad together, and a small donation from each ectophile.
