Wonderful stuff. NX is such a fantastic show !!! The bad news is that you're (practically) at the end of the series. That was the one program I would watch faithfully every week. -- _____________________________________________________________________ / Evan Welsh \ \ Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (+44 31 650 5960) / ======================================================================== Date: Thu, 17 Jun 93 6:45 EDT From: robert@deepspace.nj00802.sai.com (Robert Lovejoy) Subject: Communique Hecto Ello! I have recently been deluged with new music, thanks to brni (wonderful post last night, by the way!), so last night I played a CD I hadn't heard in a while, "Communique" by Dire Straits. This has to be one of the nicest albums of the group! I know it's not Ecto material, but there is some fine musicianship going on here! Quite enjoyable! Susanne called yesterday to make sure all ectophiles had the news about HR5. I told her it was posted. I'll get back to her today and double check on foreign orders, but my guess is that Vickie's post is on the money. Also, I'll check with her vis Australian distribution, Anthony! David Torn: Cloud About Mercury David Torn: Electric and Acoustic Guitars Mark Isham: Trumpet, Piccolo Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Synthesizer Tony Levin: Chapman Stick, Synthesizer Bill Bruford: Simmons Drums, Synthesizer Drums, Percussion Yup, it's the great 80's Crimson rhythm team in another framework. I saw the tour for this at the Bottom Line. Mick Karn (who, I understand, was originally supposed to be on the album anyway) substituted for Levin. Subject: Rhodes 1 and Rhodes^5 Hello, I am definitely interested in the cd5 that is coming out. It is $12 plus $2 for shipping? Vickie mentioned putting in another order if we wanted to order other cds to save on shipping. Since I have aquired all my Happy purchases at the local record store I was wondering about ordering etiquette.. (for lack of a better word) :-) I picked up Rhodes II over the weekend and it is excellent. Some of the songs sound a bit more folky in comparison to her later stuff but hey, I love just a voice and a guitar! Come Here, Under and Over the Brink and the Chase are incredible and I like hearing her voice in the higher registers. Well, since I have interested in the cd5 I thought I might order Rhodes I as well but I would like to know how much it would be all together. cd5-$12 Rhodes I-$13.99 (this is from an old mail message) would it be $2 shipping and handling for the whole thing? or $4? And as far as ordering...do I just mail my check with a letter explaining what I would like? ugh, pardon my inexperience. thanks.. Quenby p.s. Is Happy Rhodes really going to autograph the cd5?!? ======================================================================== Date: 17 Jun 1993 10:44:56 -0400 From: pas@math.ams.org (Paula Shanks) Subject: Gracias... ...to all welcomers and straighteners-out, as I get into this group ass-backwards. My name is Martin Hanley, and I'm working as a consultant to SCO here in the UK. SCO have given me a mail account for the duration, bless 'em. Anyway, I got into Happy about the time that Warpaint came out, through rec.music.gaffa. Great stuff! Since then, I've been wanting to get the rest of Happy's works, but as far as I knew it was all on tape only - but no more! My order for the CDs goes in very shortly. Anyway, enough babble.
