Hi all you wonderful folks! I have a FAX from Kevin that I have to re-type into the computer. This probably won't get done until Thursday night. Earlier, if possible, but definitely no later than Thursday. However, I can pass this much along now: You can order the CD single *now*. Send $12.00, plus $2.00 postage & packaging to: Ectophile CD Single c/o Aural Gratification P. O. Box 380 Bearsville, NY 12409-0380 5 HR will have 5 tracks (plus...:-)) Feed the Fire (Warpaint album version) Feed the Fire (Acoustic version) Ashes to Ashes (Acoustic version) Save Our Souls (Acoustic version) I Say (Equipoise album version) *** ONE PER PERSON, NO EXCEPTIONS *** *** ECTOPHILES ONLY *** Kevin will have 2 lists of names. A list of Ectophiles from early May, when the CD single was first announced, and another that I'm just getting ready to send him, which is the most current. You are considered an Ectophile if your name appears on either of these two lists, *or*... ...if you read Ecto from one of the 8 Newsgroups. If you are a Newsgroup reader, you **MUST** give Kevin the *full* address of the Newsgroup *and* the name of the person who set it up, who subsribed to Ecto in the first place. For instance, Norway readers would give Yngve's name, and the address you receive it at. You should send this information to me as well (your name, the Newsgroup address, and the contact name) because Kevin will double-check with me anyone he's not sure about. It has to be understood that these CDs are in *very* limited supply. Kevin has held back 193 to be sold to Ectophiles. There are 180 Ectophiles, *NOT* including Newsgroup readers. While it's doubtful that all 180 people on the active list will order a CD, this is still a first come, first served situation. I've specifically asked Kevin to hold copies for Yngve and Drewcifer. ** STEVE POTTER ** Are you there???? I listed you as a "Floating Ectophile" because you read via Gopher. You *can* order a CD if you want. Are there any other Floating Ectophiles?? *Please* e-mail me. If there's anyone else who thinks there might be a problem with being listed as an Ectophile, e-mail me. Kevin warns that these CD singles *might*, at some point, be pressed as a retail item. If this were to happen, an extra song would probably be added, and it would almost certainly cost *less* in the stores than the mail-order price. He wants you to know that, so hopefully there won't be any hard feelings if it should happen. You know the score before you send money to Aural Gratification. (Personally, it should hardly matter to any *true* Happy fan. These mail-order discs will be *personal* collector's items anyway. They will be signed by Happy, guaranteed. Plus, if they *are* re-pressed for retail, there will be changes to the cover, and there will be a bar code on them. And hey, wouldn't we buy the commercial copies *anyway*? Sure we would.) Kevin has other things to say, which I will pass on, but that's the main meal. Order now, order early, enthuse a lot, let Happy and Kevin know how much you appreciate them thinking about us, and find a little cloud to dance upon. We are blessed! How about a quickie >review Al? I went to this show and had a great time. I had never heard of Ani until about a week before the show. I managed to get two tapes from a friend of a friend before hand (Not So Soft, & Imperfectly) but I only got the chance to give them barely a background listening. I hardly know the songs so I can't comment on the set list. Ani was great though, her playing on the tapes was great but in concert she was incredible. I was kind of wary going to a concert with just an accoustic guitar I have to admit. She worked that guitar though bringing so much out of it. For part of her two sets she had the percusionist Andy Stochansky on stage with her. And for one song in each set there was an accordian player out with them (Can't remember his name, but he used to be her boss when she worked on a construction site for a while... :) Ah, I'm bad at talking about concerts all I seem to remember is the feeling and the energy. If you get the chance to see her go. It was a great time. I think I was kind of disappointed in the audience though. The people who were into it crowded the front and those at the back and at the bar were kind of noisy, it got a bit annoying. I was surprised at how very few people were dancing. I was bopping to a number of the songs but I only saw about 8-10 other people moving in the crowd. Ah well, I bought Imperfectly and her new one Puddle Dive on CD while I was there and Puddle Dive has only left my CD Player a few times since the concert... (To be honest the only reason it left was that I finally found Equipose at the Record Archive. Yep I've been listening to Ani instead of a new Happy, forgive me. It's one of those mood things though, Happy hasn't struck me yet.) And I just read about Stan's ((?) Sorry, no scroll back here) business trip to Rochester. Yes, 10cc is a little more than the average ejaculation! Godley & Creme (I think) are now advertising creatives in the USA... They were a pretty good band. IMHO... One more thing - Brent Wilcox, on Genie, notes his station got a promo package with 3 cds - Equipoise, Warpaint, and HR5 (to the fifth power). He played the Warpaint FTF from HR5. How about a quickie > >review Al? > > I went to this show and had a great time. ... rest of review deleted ... Thanks for the interesting review, Ken. Sounds like it was a great performance. I saw posters up around town at lunchtime on the day of the gig and was sorely tempted to go. I've only heard a couple of songs of hers (and I've no idea of the titles) but what I have heard made me think I'd appreciate a live show. But then the responsible side of my nature kicked in and I thought about the impact a late finish would have on my ability to function properly at 8am the following morning. So since NT was paying for me to be there to attend meetings, not hang out in the Horizontal Boogie Bar (great name btw!), I regretfully concluded it wouldn't be a good idea after all. This was confirmed when Al told me that they left after 1am and Ani was still playing at that time and that he'd been feeling pretty wrecked that morning as a result. So I guess it was not to be, but it would have been fun. > And I just read about Stan's ((?) Sorry, no scroll back here) > business trip to Rochester. Yep, it's a pretty sedate place, ESPECIALLY > around East Ave. Nice place to raise a family but you wouldn't want to > live here expecting a grand club or music scene... Well, I think that's the first time I've been called Stan on this list, but I won't hold it against you! Come to that, perhaps my body shape and general level of incompetance wouldn't make comparisons with a certain Mr. Laurel entirely too far fetched. Whatever... I wasn't necessarily knocking Rochester, just contrasting it with Chicago. Is it your home town, or do you just go to school there? It flopped. He did a few albums on that label as well as producing and releasing other artists, but his albums started to all sound samey (though the first single from his first album on Numa, "Your Fascination", was excellent, produced by Colin Thurston, who did the first two Duran albums...). As far as I know he's still recording (he joined a *band* for a while!) and had an album out recently. But as far as I know nothing since he left Beggar's Banquet has been licensed outside the UK.
