I'm new to this mailing-list, so I must conform to the directives first : I'm a 24 years old, 1.80 meters tall with a 41 shoe size (approx. 27 cm, I don't know what's the common measure in the US). My main interests are, for computers : programming, graphics (image processing and 3D) and music (MIDI). My favourite computer is the Amiga (what else ?) :-) My other interests are : religions, past civilizations, astronomy and music. Well, too much for the features. I've comed to this list because Vickie Mapes, the WretchAwry clone to which I send a great big humpf! (private joke :-) ), who have known me on the Kate Bush mailing-list (love-hounds), asked to Steve Fagg to send me a sampler tape of Happy Rhodes work (wait a little more, Steve, you'll get my greetings in the next mail :-) ), and to report my impressions on this list. Now, I've listened to it too many times to tell you the correct number, and I find it quite impressive and delightful. Desperatly, I don't have enough time this evening to write the complete review, so I should post it next week (4-18 June). As you may guess, it will be quite positive :-) Regards, -- Philippe PS : Sorry for the looonnnnnggg delay, Vickie, but my mail/news feed has some *serious* problems these days (and I think that receiving 5 mailing-lists is maybe a part of the problem) but, well, here I am, finally ! ;) .----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | Philippe Berard (French Amiga User) | UseNet : amipb@amipb.gna.org | | "They hold a cup of wisdom, | -> Please don't send mails | | But there is nothing within" (Kate Bush). | >50 Ko ! | `----------------------------------------------------------------------------' ======================================================================== Date: Wed, 09 Jun 93 14:47:12 CDT From: From the land of sky-brown/gray waters Subject: Life imitates ecto? This morning, I looked out the bus window and noticed an apparently homeless man walking along the street, with a portion of his gear apparently stowed atop his head in an outsize wool hat. As fate would have it, this is essen- tially the same concept I came up with a couple of years ago for the CRANIUM KEEP carrying device, one of the Ecto line of quality fancy gadgets (q.v.). Never thought I'd see one of my utopian ideas actually come to fruition :-). With the latest Royal Wedding in the news, I wonder if Spy magazine has thought to do an entry in its "separated at birth" feature, featuring Masako Owada and Connie Chung :-). A couple random notes while I'm here: The Tasmin Archer song you heard, Jens, is "Sleeping Satellite". I noticed no one actually mentioned the title! I heard this song on an "adult contemporary" station in NYC over the weekend (yes, I admit I was listening to commercial radio... the batteries in my boom box died, so I had to listen to the radio and that's the only station it wanted to pick up at the time. You have to see my radio to believe it... it didn't work all winter, then decided to work if I bash the dashboard a few times, and hope I don t hit a bump. The crack in the dashboard marks the sweet spot). I was amused to hear a song I'd played on my show just last week, and resolved to play only other cuts from the album from now on. If I like two songs from an album I'll usually get it on sale. I love "Sleeping Satellite" and now "Halfway To Heaven", so I'm looking for a sale.... kelly! you're here! post personal data for the record... i know how tall you are but i wonder what your shoe size is (this is kelly. she's RDT's own delirium. :) Later! We're primarily looking for stores with a good selection of imports, bootlegs and/or used CDs. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated! I'm HAPPY to report that the Strawberries store in Troy, NY, managed by the Rob half of my ID, has sold its first copy of "Warpaint," and better still, was able to get it restocked from the main warehouse immediately. Progress, my friends! The fellow who bought it had his head shaved on both sides. Well, obviously his travel agency wanted him to have a nice experience! ;-) As for anybody living around Copenhagen, that pretty much boils down to me (well, at least among Ectophiles! ;-)) and, sure, he's welcome. Anyway, the people > that write software for the Amiga scare me (product/forward > compatibility-wise speaking, that is) Ahem! There *are* software writers who do produce quality code... Please don't lump all of us into the same category with "demo coders" and the like... At least many of the European developers of "serious" applications does a fairly good job of forward compatible coding... But I'm happy to see that there's fair number of Amiga users on the list: I'm planning an AmigaGuide version of The Guide. :-) Uli enjoyed a U2 concert (;-)): > Has anyone else here made this experience somewhere else in this world? > Are the members of U2 able to hear ANYTHING after that >1 year world tour? Ok, she could split it into 35 min for each of "In Hiding" and "To Be E. Mortal"... ;-) And finally: Thanks to all who responded about the Tasmin Archer lyrics. Joan Cusack's been in...let's see...the first time I saw her was in Broadcast News, frantically rushing to get the videotape to the control room in time for airing. She was *manic* in that scene! She played a wonderfully quirky character in the film Men Don't Leave, a sweet little film starring Jessica Lange and Arliss Howard ("Cowboy" in Full Metal Jacket, he's from Kansas City.) Joan Cusack is John's sister, and they're from Chicago. There are 2 other sisters who are actresses also, Ann and...um, can't remember the other one.
