Michael ======================================================================== Date: Wed, 24 Jun 92 17:03:33 EDT From: tempest!john@sunne.east.sun.com (John M. Wheeler) Subject: Sadness and Happyness Just a few short days after receiving the 1st4 and Warpaint (this being the first time I'd heard any of the songs except those on the Ecto SIG tape), my CD player and my new copy of Warpaint [and Sarah McLachlan's Solace] were snatched from my car in the Walden Pond parking lot. Besides the depression resulting from the loss of any music in my car, the loss of Warpaint (which had quickly become my favorite of the five) irritated me. Then I found out my insurance won't cover any of the loss, and that combined with the knowledge that I would be taking a seven hour trip down to Philadelphia (well, Ardmore, right outside Philly) without music got me down in the dumps. I survived the ride, and when I went to see Batman Returns (good, but not great) at the theater in Bryn Mawr (two towns over), I was quick enough on my feet to remember 21st Century Sound used to be right next to the theater. It had moved since I'd last been there, and it was closed (Sunday). When I went back the next day I was pleased to see that all the Happy memorabilia which had been trotted out for the CD releases was still there. I grabbed a new copy of Warpaint (and the two Jane Siberry CDs I didn't yet have), chatted with the salesperson, who said that all they have to do is put Happy on the in-store speakers and people walk up and want to buy, and with Lennie, the owner, who definitely knew about ecto and the ectophiles. Three of Happy's CDs were in their top 25 sellers! The top choice was Ecto. Thanks very much for all the birthday wishes!! -john p.s. to the foo(s)tah: I still haven't bought my system yet. ======================================================================== Date: Wed, 24 Jun 92 17:37:15 EDT From: Chris Sampson Subject: RE: ecto #274 This goes to Greg, from an inquiring mind (more specifically, mine, which is, admittedly prone to probing around the peripheral (rather than central) topics of discussion....and, as there is no PRESSING business, ....what was I saying? :P....oh, yeah, and, seeing as he is particularly flamboyant with the use of his .sig recently......uhhhhhhh.....oh yeah....a question....or something......). Maybe if enough of us practice getting up early starting in the nick of time, or in the alternate staying up late without falling asleep, depending on the critical daypart in our respective markets, we can jointly and severally come up with a set of pieces adding up to the complete show, and then promptly zonk out for the duration. :-) WBEZ has also announced that it will have a show on cyberspace-related phenom- ena (over and above us being one of those ourselves, you may recall that I recently shared with you all some writings by others on the topic) tomorrow (June 26) from 10 AM to noon, Central time. Automobiles, in turn, are built to travel primarily on roads, albeit not necessarily with any set coefficient of happiness.
