It's a given that that was an SGI. Has anyone out there tried to use an SGI? It's weird. It's got some neat features, yes, and I'm sure once someone knew the intricacies of the system it would be fun, but until then.... So, if this kid was using an SGI, she had to know something about Unix just to get around. :-) (In all fairness, their GUI is actually fairly decent, but when one's been spoiled with NeXTstep, everything else falls way short anyway. IRIX takes a bit of getting used to, but at least it's better than Solaris 2.x) As far as the kids being snivelling twits, I disagree completely in the movie. In the book, the girl was a bona fide dino-snack, yes, but the movie changed the characters around. The boy was a little bit of a pest but nothing out of the ordinary. I don't know any of Steve Roach's albums but I saw his performance on the KlangArt festival, here in May (a review will appear in my KlangArt report #3, some time the next weeks). Suffice it to say that I was very disappointed. It was one of the most boring concerts that I ever saw - no sequences at all. I have all of CT's works, and I just wanna warn you that the box set you refer to is, like you say, just their singles. i.e. not their complete works. Cocteau Twins have gone through a pretty definitive transistion from a wall-o-guitar buzz grungy sound to a cleaner swirly synth sound. If you like the former, check out their early albums like Garlands. If you more into the latter, I would suggest any of Victorialand, Treasure, Blue Bell Knoll, or Heaven Or Las Vegas. Of course, the box set includes about 10 (?) discs of 4 or 5 tracks each that cover their entire career.
