WOW! That's quite amazing! I've passed out lots of tapes to "known" people but I never expected to hear back on any of them! This is great! I actually gave the tapes to Christine last year when she played with Patty Larkin and a couple of other women (too lazy right now to go dig up the CD) and I got a promo for my show, but it didn't turn out very well. I don't remember which shows I gave her, I don't think I chose them for any special "content" reason. I'm so glad she liked them (and still listens!) and David, thank you so much for bringing it up. I'm very pleased! Other people who have tapes (just in case...:-) are Victoria Williams, who painted an abstract painting while listening to them and then sent it to me. It's very "female" oriented and it is indeed very abstract! Lynda Limner, the lead singer for Hetch Hetchy, has a ton, probably 6-10, I can't remember how many I gave her. Karen & Don Peris have 9, I think. Plus a Happy 1st4 sampler and a cassette of Warpaint. Caryn Kadavy, the skater, has a few. Happy has a few. That's all I can think of at the moment, but I think there's more. I actually forgot that I had given Christine tapes until I read this post. My memory.... Thanks again David, and I hope I can hear Kristina some time soon. Vickie ======================================================================== From: vickie@chinet.chi.il.us (Vickie Ann Mapes) Subject: Court's song Date: Wed, 15 Jan 92 3:24:33 CST Vickie here, and I'm confessing...I thought I had deleted the letter that Court sent me with the name and lyrics to the Welsh song. Guess what I found about 3 hours ago? Yep. So, not only do I not say the name of the song or the artist, I even forgot to say that it's a "Welsh" song! It's not the only mistake I make on the HGP, but it's one of the most glaring. I'll make sure Happy knows the information, and, with this post, you all will know too. I just realized the other day that it sounds as if I meant that it was Court singing! It will be funny to find out if Happy thinks that too. Other errors on the HGP: I say "Dave quote not the same one who's in the Eurythmics unquote and Barbara Gaskin" and totally forgot to say "Stewart" but that's at the end of the song, and I *do* say his name before the song. Also, I completely destroyed Noirin's name, but luckily Chip says it before the song starts and he says it right. I say it wrong after the song. Also, in the opening intro I am trying to speak very quickly (reading from a hastily scrawled note, after I had flubbed it ad-libbing about 5 times) and I say "Welcome to the Hap Happy Gift Project" because I meant to say "happy Happy Gift Project" and my brain hiccupped! I didn't re-do it and I probably should have. Oh well, not a major problem. Woj, I mispronounced your name the second time I say it. I also mispronounced Perttu, but I correct myself. There are a few other minor glitches here and there too, but nothing too awful. I'll do better next time, really I will. Here's the info on Court's song... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- anyway..here are the lyrics..both in Welsh and in English.. singer:Tony ac Aloma title: Mae Gen I Gariad (I Have a Lover) (duet sung byt the two artists)(duhhh!!) A: And that's me! T&A: Can't blame my parents for flaming. They are shouting again to come home in order. Because *THAT'S* the one I love best and it's the one I VERY HIGHLY recommend. Vickie vickie@chinet.chi.il.us ======================================================================== Date: Wed, 15 Jan 92 12:31:46 -0500 From: Nimue - Gwragedd Annwn Subject: Blind to the gemstone alone Vickie: Yes, I am Lene "Demon Driver" Snow....:) Klaus: I agree with you that the high ticket price does effect those who would just come to the concert to "see" Happy. (I really want to say tuff to those people, at least the fairly high ticket price will keep the "riff-raff" at a minimum. "riff-raff" being those people who go to a concert and discuss the latest stock market trades over the music arrgh :) ) Yes, ideally I would like to see her concert tickets going for $5-6. But I also don't find a problem with paying $15 either considering Ive paid more for some artists who are nowhere near the same caliber as Happy. I really don't think that the ticket price will affect those Happy die-hard wannabes in a great way - if you are going to discover Happy it is going to be through some other medium. While a concert will give Happy wider recognition, the number of new fans it is going to pull in, through the concert alone, will be minimal. Maybe im completely off-base here, but that's what I believe. Anyway Klaus I agree with you, but disagree with you too - how's that for solving something :) All: I just bought my ticket for the Philly show - is it my imagination or are the people who man the phones at Ticketmaster the slowest people on earth?? COAC the man took forever to take everything down, and then .... Are any other upstate New Yorkers going?? Ithacans?? If so I would like to try to get a car-pool going if possible. We have plenty of time to discuss this, but im willing to pick people up as I travel south.
