Your mention of Cole Porter reminded me of the very pleasant event we attended this past New Years Eve. A large choral company and orchestra performed Carmina Burana (which should be experienced live at least once by everyone!) followed by a selection of Cole Porter songs. I can never hear his music without seeing parts of the "Red, Hot and Blue" videos in my head. I guess this means they made a strong impression on me. Have you seen them? What did you think of the performances? BTW, did you get the cole porter usps stamps? Cheers, Michael Peskura - mpeskura@cac.washington.edu. ======================================================================== Subject: !! Date: Thu, 09 Jan 92 18:12:53 EST From: jeffy@lewhoosh.umd.edu Philly, why that's only 3 hours away! The question is, does any near-Philly ecto-type have a place I can crash (i provide a sleeping bag, you provide floor space...) so I don't _crash_ on the way home. I may not be in any condition to drive. ;-) So exciting!!!!!! Jeff (who will go and drive home the same day if he has to--he once drove the 4 or 5 hours up to Chicago from school to see the Residents and then drove home after the show--but would much rather enjoy an opportunity to meet some ectofolk...) |Jeffrey C. I had a lot of fun, that's for sure. I was going to, but I didn't want to make the other ectophiles jealous! :) Some of my personal favorites of the day (random order): * listening to the World Cafe interview and live performances. I can't wait to see Happy in person!!! * getting a sneak preview of the HGP and hearing the voices of familiar Ectophiles. Great selections everyone! * Kiri's delicious cheese dip and Jorn's addictive popcorn * listening to Mitch's Winter Solstice tape. It was a neat surprise to hear Noirin Ni Riain live! * seeing the dimented and twisted things one can do with a Kate GIF. :) That's it for now...
